Plagiarism happens when someone takes someone else’s words, ideas or work and presents them as their own without giving proper credit. It doesn’t matter if it’s a few sentences, a whole article or just a simple phrase; if it came from someone else and you didn’t clearly show that, it’s considered plagiarism.
In schools, jobs and publishing, this is taken very seriously because it’s a form of dishonesty and intellectual theft.

Why a Link at the Bottom Isn’t Enough
Many people think that if they copy a block of text from a website and then paste a link at the bottom of their post that makes it okay.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t.
Just pasting a link doesn’t tell readers which words were copied and it still gives the impression that you wrote the content.
To avoid plagiarism, you have to clearly show what was quoted (usually with quotation marks or formatting) and cite the source in a proper way, explaining where the quote starts, who wrote it and where it came from.

How to Do It the Right Way
If you want to use someone else’s words, the safest way is to either put the quote in quotation marks and say who wrote it or paraphrase the idea in your own words and still give credit.
For example, “According to so and so on sample site . com, early civilizations often developed near rivers or oceans.”
That way, you’re being clear about where the idea came from.
Being extremely clear and citing sources appropriately not only helps you avoid plagiarism, it shows respect for the original author and helps your audience trust what you’re saying could be true.
To avoid plagiarism of any kind, simply always keep in mind that the majority of any blog or wiki should always be written in the words of the blog or wikis author and any copy and pasted text should always be in quotation marks with a direct reference to who originally wrote what was quoted.

I forgot to give myself credit for using my quotes :+1: :joy: anyways yes plagiarism is a serious thing and especially in professional environments such as schools, universities, businesses, and a lot of industries such as entertainment industry and marketing and advertising etc. it happens far more than it should I’ve been a victim of someone plagiarism on my words before it’s not right but it happens far more than it should. If credit for something is due than give it. Best thing you should do is not copy someone else’s work and if you do paraphrasing is always a good way of getting your own style to add on to someone else’s work. But make sure you tell that you took from it
Thanks mom hahaha kidding
So true :100:
