It’s a dark and stormy night when you come across a seemingly abandoned gothic mansion called Rose Hall. And to your surprise there is people in it; an eccentric millionaire, his adorable great-grandson, and several servants. What’s even weirder? They claim that it’s the 1970’s so cellphones don’t work on of the lack of WiFi or signal. As so you have very little option but to stay the night in what’s more like a hunting lodge for rich weirdos...except that’s only the tip of the iceberg as there’s also weird sounds and visions and an off putting sense of something not right. It’s a spooky gothic horror that will leave you guessing: Ghosts? Time travel? What the hell’s going on?!!

𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓯 𝓗𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓸𝓻𝔂

Rose Hall was commissioned by Samuel Gilman during the Gilded Age, originally as a summer home in a quiet forested area away from the rustle and bustle of the city. However during the Great Depression, they had to move into it full time due to losing their main home among other things. Not that Samuel mind since he vastly preferred it.

It is rumored that the property was built over a spot where many witches were hanged in Colonial Times and as a result the house and the Strange family is cursed. Which considering the number of family that have died if sudden causes would explain quite a bit.

𝓡𝓮𝓼𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓼

𝓖𝓲𝓵𝓶𝓪𝓷 𝓕𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵𝔂

𝒮𝒶𝓂𝓊𝑒𝓁 𝒢𝒾𝓁𝓂𝒶𝓃

The family patriarch, well known occult expert, and powerful sorcerer. Most describe him as either a wise family man or a manipulative control freak ,but regardless on who you believe he is extremely savvy even at his age and condition.

𝐿𝒶𝓊𝓇𝑒𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝒢𝒾𝓁𝓂𝒶𝓃

Samuel’s great-grandson and heir. Samuel is quite (over)protective over him and holds him very dear, as well as trying to make sure he’s groomed to be a fine successor. Laurence is a sweet child prodigy ,but is very shy due to an ittedly sheltered upbringing.

𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓼

Even though it’s no longer the glory days where the family had enough servants to make up a small army ,there’s still a few that keep Rose Hall running especially considering Samuel’s old age.

𝓘𝓻𝓪 𝓦𝓪𝓰𝓷𝓮𝓻

A calm, gentle all-around housemaid, extremely docile and loyal, mostly to Samuel.

Naturally has created some rumors such as how she was a demon familiar contracted by Samuel. It doesn’t help that there’s a few things off about her, such as being so servile she comes across as uncanny, a strange marks on her hands including the word “Galatea” on it, and how she resembles a portrait of Samuel’s late wife.

𝒜𝓇𝓉𝒽𝓊𝓇 𝒢𝒶𝓇𝒸𝑜𝓃

The butler and the longest lasting of the current servants, having been employed for at least thirty years. He also claims to have known Ira for decades despite the obvious age difference.

𝓟𝓪𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓬𝓲𝓪 𝓡𝓸𝓫𝓮𝓻𝓽𝓼

The manor’s housekeeper, which comes to a shock to some people due to her age.

A more stern figure who despite itting to not always agreeing with Samuel enforces his rules without question. As such she’s become somewhat of a co-housekeeper due to her more direct manner.

𝒮𝒽𝒶𝓃𝓃𝑜𝓃 𝑀𝒸𝒦𝑒𝓁𝓁𝑒𝓎

One of the newer servants, haven gotten the job due to needing to pay for nursing school. Due to her background she tends to be assigned to take care of Laurence, as such they have a bond that’s like a sister if not a surrogate mother. All in spite of her bewilderment towards her surroundings.

Two mysterious girls that stay in one room in particular. Samuel acknowledges their existence ,but refuses to further discuss them

Immediately you are greeted by a grand staircase which only offers a glimpse into the architecture of a bygone era.

𝓓𝓲𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓡𝓸𝓸𝓶

As it suggests where residents and guests dine, save for the servants who eat separately or if Laurence misbehaves.

𝓛𝓲𝓫𝓻𝓪𝓻𝔂

Due to Samuel’s intellectual pursuits it is quite large and holds smaller rooms within it such as a private study and a homeschool classroom.

𝓟𝓻𝓲𝓿𝓪𝓽𝓮 𝓢𝓽𝓾𝓭𝔂

Emphasis on private! Samuel does not like to be disturbed, not even by the servants!

𝓒𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓻𝓸𝓸𝓶

The Young Master is homeschooled to both make extra sure he’s groomed to be Samuel’s successor and due to Laurence’s extreme shyness.

Simple ,but elegant room for conversing and sometimes tea

Where Samuel Strange sleeps, and he does not like those outside of him or the occasional cleaner in it

Exactly as it says on the tin. Adjective to it is also a small playroom for whenever he has spare time.

A few guest rooms here for visitors that have been pretty much unused until now.

Where the servants rest and organize. With some exception most of the staff also live there, since despite the new economy rendering servants practically pointless, Samuel is too old to care for himself and some are willing to work for the family for decent pay (or unwilling ,but still do so for reasons involving magically binding seal contracts).

A lovely serene rose garden filled with a lot of youthful statues reflecting mythology and folklore.
