This is Irena‘s COMC homework. In this first lesson, we introduced our selves and were introduced to London and Odion, two firedrakes.

Hello there. My name is Irena Oblonksaya and I’m a slytherin third year. I was born in Russia and lived there for the first seven years of my life, before moving to England. Because of this I can speak both English and Russian (although English was a pain to learn!). Care of Magical Creatures is one of my favourite subjects at Hogwarts, and I am most excited for the lesson on the Potato Hybrid (although I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried some hooligan would eat it!) when I am older, I want to become a dragon tamer. I know it sounds crazy, but there it is. I look forward to seeing you next lesson Professor!

Diving behind a rock to avoid a jet of fire, Irena cursed under her breath. “We could’ve gone the nice way!” She yelled at the dragon, as if it could understand her. She was standing in the Romanian wilderness, trying to take an injured Swedish Shortsnout back to their dragon sanctuary. What was a Swedish dragon doing in Romania? It was anyone’s guess. Sadly, Irena’s was that the dragon had most likely escaped from illegal dragon breeders, and that was why it was injured. And she was probably right.

A few months later, Irena opened the door of a large enclosure. Inside, majestic with her ice blue scales stood Plamya. Her name was the Russian for flame, and she just so happened to be Irena’s favourite dragon. Snoozing beside her was her son Iskra, meaning spark. Further backing up Irena’s dragon breeder theory, it had been discovered that Plamya had been pregnant when they rescued her. By discovered, they meant that Plamya had given Irena a lovely burn when she walked in on her minutes after giving birth. That was when Irena realised that just like humans, new dragon mothers can be very tetchy. *”Dinner time! Are my cute little dragons hungry?” Irena sang in a baby voice. Plamya snorted in indignation and grabbed a piece of meat right out of Irena’s arms. Iskra however, woke up and smiled at Irena very in a half asleep excited way. *”Aaaw. Looks like a widdle baby dwagon wants some food!” Irena said, giving him a small piece of meat.

A year later, and the pair were ready for release. Irena travelled with them back to Sweden, so they could be released into the wild where they should be. Standing on a cliff in the Swedish forest, tears streamed down Irena’s face as she watched the pair of them fly away into the horizon. “Buck up Irena!” Her partner said. “There’s always another dragon that needs us.” And sadly, yes. There always was.
