"Run! Run until you find the end of the path! Run until you survive! Run until you find safety!"

My older sister's last words echoed through my brain. I protesting... Trying to drive the phantom away... But it was too late.

Pain stabbed my heart as I saw her life being taken away by the phantom... I turned around... And did what she requested.

I ran

Until I heard sounds behind me. Turning my head, I was greeted by the frightening appearance of a phantom. I was being chased by a phantom! Horror took over me, but I kept running. I made a promise to her... Starlight... My older sister...

My paws started to feel sore... They hurt everytime I moved them. But I need to keep my promise! I need to! I can't break the promise I made to my only sister! Limping, I continued moving forward. I left a trail of blood which dripped from my paws.

Tears threatened to come out. I knew... This is the end... But I can't give up. Brambles left scratches on my flank, staining my white fur in red. I couldn't see the phantom, but I knew it was still following. It was waiting for the best moment to strike... And make its kill...

I wanted to hide. But my sister wanted me to run. I wanted to fulfill her last order before I die. So I continued limping on the path, waiting to reach the end. Pawstep by pawstep, I moved forward. The path led to a tall, steep mountain. It would take ages to go around. I was left with no choice but to climb it.

I hooked my claws against a rock and forced myself upwards. I reached out my other paw and hooked my claws on the rock above it. I continued climbing until I reached a small ledge. I shoved myself onto it. I wanted to take a break. But I knew the phantom was still behind me, hidden in the darkness.

I didn't want to sink into this despairful feeling anymore. I wanted to die. But I promised her... I promised Starlight... I promised her to...

"Come out coward!", I yowled. I would fight and kill this phantom to avenge my dead sister. I can't let her die in vain. A black shadow fell over me. The phantom was staring down at me from the top of the mountain. It had a hint of evil in it's only eye.

I growled menacingly at it. I started to feel the land I was standing on shake a bit. My eyes widened in horror. The phantom was creating... A landslide. I had only one option to survive. I had to climb back down. But that would mean I'm a coward, I would be giving in.

I ed the promise, and decided to climb back down. But it was too late. Large pieces of rocks started to fall. A piece came for me. In attempt to dodge, my tail got pinned. Now, I was totally helpless. I couldn't escape, unless I was willing to bite my tail off.

I sunk my teeth into the end of my tail, pain filling my entire body. Tears escaped my eyes. I heard rumbling sounds and looked up. A huge boulder was rolling down, headed my way. I knew...

This was my end

I ed the day I made the promise...

~~~Flashback~~~
"Starlight! Look! A moth! I-It's dying!", I told my sister, holding out a jar with a moth in it.
"Oh?", Starlight looked up from her book, showing no interest.
"C-Can't we try saving it?", I stuttered.
"It's no use. It'll just die in a few seconds", she remarked.
"But we can try!"
"There's nothing left to do. Now is its end"
"B-But-"
"Scarlet", Starlight looked up from the book she was reading.
"What?"
"Promise me you won't die"
"What?!"
"We live in a forest"
"So?!"
"Phantoms are lurking here"
"They've never bothered us!"
"I know, but there still is a chance we may die"
"N-No!"
"Promise me you won't die like that moth"
"What type of promise is that?!"
"Just do it. Promise me you won't die as a coward"
"... I don't understand, but I promise"
I looked down to see the moth dead.
~~~End of flashback~~~

The boulder was just a few inches away. More tears spilled out of my eyes.

I'm so sorry, Starlight! I couldn't keep the promise I made! I'm nothing but a weak coward... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so-

I felt the impact.
