today, i present to you a diy sandy seashells! before we get started i’d like to say that this is my first time using clay in a while, so my apologies if it doesn’t look as good as some people who work more with clay could make this :’)

anyways, let’s hop right on in!

you will need

cardboard

blue-green paper

liquid glue

dark blue clay

light blue clay

a toothpick

step one

cut a misshapen oval out of cardboard.

step two

flip the cardboard over, and trace onto your blue-green piece of paper.

step three

cut along the line, and glue on top of the cardboard.

step four

with some dark blue clay, create a croissant shape. etch four lines into it with your toothpick.

step five

with some dark blue clay, create a cone shape. create a ‘snake’ out of light blue clay and wind it around the cone.

step six

create two ‘snakes’ out of dark blue clay.

step seven

flatten one ‘snake,’ then fold it in half. form a small ball of clay with a small piece of the other ‘snake.’ with the leftover clay, make three rings, getting progressively smaller as they go.

step eight

break off approximately a fourth of the flat strip. pile the rings, and stick the ball on top. set these three pieces aside.

step nine

create a pizza shape out of light blue clay. take off the point at the end.

step ten

curve the clay as shown. create a out of more light blue clay in a capital ‘i’ shape, and use this to hold the curves in place.

step eleven

flip this shape over. ajust the clay to resemble a conch shell frame, as shown in the picture.

step twelve

attach the ring-cone from step eight onto the top left of the shell. attach the two strips from said step onto the part of the shell that curves downwards.

step thirteen

if your clay is baking clay, follow the instructions on the box to bake your three shells. then, glue your clam shell in the far left, your turritella shell in the middle right, and your conch shell in the very middle.
