It’s Where my Demons Hide | AJWP

As I woke up, the blinding lights flashed to my eyes. “He’s awake! Mom, Marlin’s awake!” yelled someone, but I could hardly place the voice with the face. “Is that… Gage?” I asked, frightened of why I could hardly . “Marlin… you were found in the hive, ?” and when he said that, it all came flashing back. Lying to the police officer, going back to the hive, and then ing the tragic events all over again. “How did I get here?” I asked Gage. “The Shiveer Military found you in the snow. We think one of them should us.” Then I ed- Gage and Callie- and our plan to save Jamaa.

After being in the hospital for four more days, I was fully recovered and ready to go set out for our trek to find the coyote, Lightning (which was the one who had found me). Going over our checklist, we had water, ropes, food, blankets, and… a basketball? “Gage, why did you pack a basketball?” I asked in confusion. “You never know when you need to shoot some hoops!” “Oh Gage oh Gage.” I answered. Then we started our trek into the mountains.

After making into the military base, we looked for Lightning. “Hello! Do you guys need any help?” asked a kind arctic wolf. “Thanks for offering, but I think we are fine.” I replied. “If you need any help, my name is Riley.” he said. We nodded and walked off. “Look at all of the people here!” Gage said. I don’t know why, but that made me crack. “I don’t know anyone here- not even myself.” I cried and ran off, hoping Gage would understand. But actually, going to the military base was a waste of time. Because what came next, whooptidoo, changed everything once again.
