Misfire

I loved stargazing and learning about nature. I loved my life. I’m your average 17 year old. But that isn’t under the mask. My tenth birthday was my favorite birthday. But it wasn’t because I was granted comic-book abilities, but because it was my last birthday with my ‘friend’.

Someone once said, “We create our own demons.” Well, how was I supposed to know that meant me? I was just turning 10, finishing my year as a 4th grader. I was a prankster. I probably didn’t deserve what I got. I had a friend- well, it felt like he was. He was terrible, but he was the only person I had that I thought had my back. We create our own demons. Yes, I am an eagle. My friend was an ‘eagle’. We create our own demons. Who knew you could do that when the demon you create is the one who gives you the untold possibilities. “Jerico. I’m sorry to do this but…” that is all I . I waking up somewhere being dragged all over the place. But who even cares about the past. Who cares. A bomb is not a bomb when it is a misfire. I guess that is what I am.

Misfires help I guess. I guess when you can suddenly fly 100 miles per hour you want to help. I have senses increased to 20/10. That is when you know you’re the misfire. Nobody knows- correction- nobody knew. Technology helps create an empire until the tech falls in the wrong hands. Maybe Maliki found out to help me- long story. You can’t hide misfires when they are suddenly faster than the fastest track runner.

“Jerico time for school!” My mom yelled to me. “Okay one minute!” I said as I tucked my suit into my backpack. “I hope I don’t lose another backpack today.” I thought to myself as I walked out of my room. I have a lot of worries to live with. Like maybe Nadie will tell his co-workers where I live. I mean, I get the wonderful “privilege” of seeing Nadie everyday. But Maliki is a role model. He taught me to stick to my guts and go with the flow.

“Help!!!” I heard an animal yell. I ran to the ally to change into my suit so no one could find out my identity. I followed my sense of hearing back into an ally. “Hello, Jerico.” “N… Nadie?” I replied. “Time for my revenge. Jeri, all you are is a misfire.” Nadie said. “Okay this is your time to fly away. No one is hurt, you’ll be fine. Just fly away.” I thought to myself as I flew away to my ally so I could change out of my suit. That day was scary. They could come at any time and reveal my secret. Right after school, I ed Maliki and told him what happened. “I’ll be right over. Jerico, we need to tell your mom.” Maliki said as he hung up the phone.

“And we meet again.”

Okay- this is the WORST story I have ever wrote. I literally just realized that it was almost the deadline for AJWP, so, I rushed the ending lol.
