On top of that, his tragic backstory makes his character even more compelling—his personal struggles with family, loss, and loneliness make him even more relatable.

In contrast, Jun-Pyo’s emotional growth is much more about overcoming his stubbornness, while Ji-Hoo’s emotional maturity is already evident from the start. Jan-Di and Ji-Hoo share a deep emotional connection, yet she often overlooks him in favor of Jun-Pyo, who might not always treat her well.

Jan-Di’s failure to recognize Ji-Hoo's potential early on and her eventual choice of Jun-Pyo, who has the more dramatic, intense personality, left me so heartbroken I wished I could knock some sense into her. Like, girl, what are you thinking? Do you want to ruin your life?

While Jun-Pyo certainly changes throughout the series, it feels like Ji-Hoo would have been a much better match for Jan-Di in of emotional and shared values. A mature man, how can she not want him?

Han Ji-Pyeong is the one who actually wrote the letters that shaped Dal-mi’s childhood. He’s smart, emotionally aware, and despite his gruff persona, he shows more care and concern for Dal-mi than anyone else. His feelings run deep, but he never pressures her—choosing instead to her from the sidelines. He encourages her dreams, protects her heart, and steps aside when he thinks it’s what’s best for her. His vulnerability is especially heartbreaking because he hides it so well.

Dal-mi chooses Do-san, who, while sweet, often struggles with insecurity and poor communication. Miss Bob The Builder really wanted to fix things.

Ji-Pyeong's emotional maturity and steady presence feel far more suited for someone as capable and determined as Dal-mi. His love story ends in a quiet heartbreak that felt unfair for someone who gave so much without ever asking for anything in return.

Han Seo-joon’s affection is raw and real. He’s not just the "bad boy" trope—he’s fiercely protective, deeply kind, and never afraid to show vulnerability around Joo-kyung. While Soo-ho’s emotional distance and internal struggles dominate the early romance, Seo-joon is there—always. His love is patient and unwavering, and his heartbreak sure did feel personal. Watching him confess, get rejected, and still smile for Joo-kyung’s happiness is the definition of silent suffering.

He deserved more than just a thank-you and a friendship bracelet. I almost experienced hypertension. How can she make my man cannon fodder?

In Guk-du is the classic childhood friend who protected Bong-soon without ever knowing the full extent of her strength—or his own feelings. He’s responsible, brave, and genuinely cares for her, even if he’s a bit clueless in expressing it. The tragedy is that by the time he realizes he loves her, she’s already fallen for someone else.

Guk-doo and Bong-soon have real, grounded chemistry. His late confession and emotional awkwardness are painfully relatable, making it hurt even more when Bong-soon moves on without a second glance. While Min-hyuk and Bong-soon have a fun, dynamic romance, there’s something about Guk-du’s quiet devotion that made me wonder what could’ve been.

Won Hae-hyo is respectful, kind, and deeply considerate. Unlike others in his position, he doesn’t use his privilege to manipulate or control. He’s ive of Jung-ha, encouraging her independence and treating her like an equal. His love is never loud or aggressive—it’s soft, consistent, and real.

Hae-hyo never gets a real chance. He watches the girl he loves fall for his best friend, all while maintaining his dignity and friendship. His heartbreak is subtle but deeply felt. I felt it with my whole chest.

He’s the kind of guy who would’ve respected Jung-ha’s dreams and ambitions, making him arguably the better long-term partner.
