Welcome! With this being the 2ne1 team's

first time greeting everyone in the new year,

we excitedly present to you all the January

2022 issue of Magazine To Anyone. As the

18th marked our maknae's birthday, this

month's theme is all about Minzy.

She has been active as a soloist lately, so

we wanted to put a spotlight on her music

released within 2020 to 2021 in particular.

I hope you guys enjoy what we prepared.

➽ Lovely

Lovely, that's exactly the first word I'd use to describe this song. This was Minzy's 1st comeback after leaving MusicWorks, so I was personally super excited to see what kind of image she would show us. Lovely didn't disappoint, but it definitely felt like we were seeing a new side of our maknae. Normally I associate her with dancing and being powerful in her performances. However, Lovely was dainty and spring-like. I appreciated how this type of song puts the focus on her vocals, which are just as impressive as her dancing skills. An overall quite refreshing song with a wonderful message. The lyrics are reassuring, telling the listener they are valid and they can rely on her when life gets tough. The message honestly feels like receiving a warm hug. Meanwhile the music video totally works in favor of the song. It doesn't distract the viewer from Minzy's voice, yet it's still a video filled with pretty imagery which can be interpreted symbolically. Afterall, spring is a time of rebirth/new beginnings and this comeback was the start of Minzy's new chapter. I noticed the video wisely used multiple sets that show a progression. Near the beginning, Minzy is in darker lit rooms. Then the color schemes become lighter and more floral by mid video. Finally by the end, we see she's outdoors. I pieced those transitions together as her trying to say there is always light at the end of the tunnel. You simply have to you're "lovely lovely you are".

➽ Teamo

Minzy came back with yet another genre to challenge herself with, Teamo is a Latin tropical house track which many artists don't seem to have courage to go ahead with since it is known to be quite an outdated style, but Minzy made it into such a beautiful opportunity as she is seen enjoying herself throughout the music video. She never fails to make good music, while her pleasant voice makes it even more worth listening to. As already known, Minzy is a fantastic dancer, and Teamo being a sultry and romantic track made her switch styles to that extent, which I definitely loved watching her do. Teamo being a Spanish word (te amo) which means i love you, through which Minzy's track focuses on confessing your love for someone special and experiencing the same in return. One thing for sure that would make you enjoy listening to the track is the post chorus where she sings "I know, I know, I know si te amo". This track provides us an all rounder Minzy, as you can listen to her sing, rap and also watch her dance, which we as blackjacks have missed a lot! The outfits she wore in the music video compliment her body as she flaunts very beautifully in them, while I also loved the head piece she wore. It suited her style and aura which she wanted to go for through Teamo. I thoroughly enjoyed this track, and it definitely is one of my most favorite tracks from her. She always does her best and that's what makes me love her even more. Make sure to listen to this track if you haven't!

➽ Fantabulous

Although I don't consider Fantabulous under my top 5 favorite Minzy songs, it still was a very good surprise to me. I personally think not everybody has the voice to pull off the Latin funky sounds, and honestly I didn't think Minzy would be one of those but she proved me wrong. Well, even if I think this type of mature concept really goes well with Minzy, I was still wishing to see more variety of sounds from her. I will be honest, it sounded repetitive after we got "Te amo". Even so "Fantabulous" brought us some aspects "Te amo" didn't and that's why I still appreciated this comeback. Those being: rap, self love lyrics and the dance breakdown. I really loved to see Minzy show us again why she was and still is an ace. I won't deny though, the rap part wasn't my cup of tea in the first listen but I guess I was still dumbfounded and I couldn't process properly what I heard lol. That really brought back so many memories from her 2ne1 years. She even talked about her splits being her signature! Now was just missing in the choreography see her doing a split in that part, what a cherry on top it would be :sob:

➽ Following our monthly special, all 3 polls were related to Minzy's solos. The 1st one asked, "which recent Minzy solo was your favorite?". Garnering 23 votes in total, 43.5% said Lovely. 47.8% went with Teamo, meanwhile Fantabulous only received 8.7%.

➽ The next poll gave outfits worn during the promotional periods of those 3 songs and we asked you to pick which was your favorite. Outfit 1 got the most votes, 36.6%. That light blue dress was from Lovely. Outfit 2, a black sequin covered dress from a Teamo performance, received 14.6%. Outfit 3 also came from Teamo, which got 17.1% of the votes. It was a bolder outfit, including a cut out top & shorts combo. Outfit 4 got the second most votes. 26.8% chose the all white ensemble from Fantabulous. Meanwhile the final choice ended with the least votes, only 4.9%. That too was worn during Teamo promos. 41 votes was the total.

➽ And finally the 3rd poll was a comments driven question, asking for your opinions on Minzy's solos. To which we got 4 much appreciated responses:

"I think Minzy is going in the right track. She have been releasing different material from her past career solo activities and i'm just loving see her improve and explore her new possibilities. I wish she brings more hip hop/ pop type of music instead of stay only focused with the latin vibes though. I love her singles "te amo" and "fantabulous", it shows a more mature Minzy and she also gave us such cool coreographies, but i can't help love songs like "ninano"!"

"I think it's cool she's been trying to show off a sort of different side to herself compared to when she was in 2ne1. She was more tomboyish back then, but now feels more mature and girly. I've enjoyed all of her solos thus far, I just wish they got more hype because I feel way too many are sleeping on Minzy"

"Minzy keeps showing us a even better side of her and of course it makes me so proud! In lovely she was able to showcase her beautiful vocals while in te amo and fantabulous she showed a little of everything that she is able to do! One of those being her amazing dance skills. Every comeback has been such a blessing as a minzy stan, all that is missing is people stop sleeping on her solo activities. This woman can sing, rap, dance, write her own lyrics. Hello??"

"Everybody already said a lot of what i had in mind :sob: but i still want to add i'm SO proud of her. I wouldn't change anything, she always gave us such amazing comebacks. Now i just hope we will have an album instead of only singles because she is very capable to make something great!"
