Hello everyone! So It’s Taemin’s birthday today, to celebrate I decided to make an edit for him. But first I want to give a quick message to SHINee’s maknae :sparkles: 🤗

Dear Taemin,

"Happy Birthday Taemin! Wow I can’t believe it’s been 13 years since SHINee debuted! You’ve come such a long way in the K-Pop industry. You’ve already achieved so much at such a young age. From being the maknae of one of the best K-Pop groups to being a solo artist. I pray that you will achieve more success and happiness in the near future! I hope that you’re doing well in the military :sob: I can’t wait for you to come back 🥺 In the meantime, I will be binge-watching your stellar performances to the time 🥰 You’re an amazing, talented and a beautiful person. I truly ire your ion for dance and performing. You deserve all the love and appreciation in the world and you are such a great inspiration to not only me but to all shawols around the world and I want to thank you for that :heart: Last but not least, I hope that you always stay safe, healthy and find someone that can make you happy forever 🥺 I love you Taemin :heart: ”

As usual, I was scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration and I came across dark academia inspired edits. I thought of trying out this type of concept for my design for Taemin because my typical edits are usually a light or pastel themed so I thought it would be interesting to try something a bit different :wink:

The process of the design :sparkles:

I got inspired to do a concept with a mix of dark academia, hints of royal elements with vintage components as well. I decided to go for a colour scheme consisting of greys, blacks, reds and gold. As I thought these colours complemented each other as it has a mix of dark and light colours, I thought it would have a nice contrast making the whole design look more interesting. As I was scouring through the internet looking for pictures of Taemin to use in my design. I started to look at his recent comeback “Advice” teaser photos and I thought they matched perfectly with the theme and concept that I had in mind. Just the overall, the fashion, more specifically the jewellery and the sword, just matched perfectly with the vintage and medieval theme that I had in mind. I also thought the colours of his clothing would create a nice contrast to the dark background of the edit. Thus, making the overall design more intriguing to look at. So now that I have figured out which photos of Taemin to use for my design, I decided to move on to find what type of elements I wanted to use, back to the internet I go. :grimacing:

Moving on to the type of elements that I used, I found a vintage PNG pack that matched perfectly with the antique theme I had in mind such as pocket watch, a key that looked like it was from the middle age and a golden frame that you might see hanged on the wall of an old castle or mansion. Of course, not forgetting my treasured components flowers but more specifically I used roses in particular just because roses are one of the most ancient of all flowers, I think this fact alone makes it the best choice for this classic theme. To give the design a bit more of an antique look, I used multiple layers of texture to replicate the grungy aesthetic of an old map that you might find in a treasure chest. :sparkles:

As for the text of the design, I thought of adding in a modern touch to it by using a font that was elegant and also stylish at the same time. I used two different fonts with different weights and gradient colour for this composition so that it will be a bit more engaging to the viewers :grimacing: I wanted to place the text vertically like I always do however this time when I tried to do that, it was bit too cluttered so I decided to place the text in the blank spaces for this design.

As always, I used my favourite software for editing Photoshop! I took about 4 hours or so to make this 🥴 it took a while but it was worth it 🥰
