Favourite Of The Week

The Rose - Beauty And The Beast

Without a doubt, I knew I had to talk about this particular release as I have missed The Rose so much. Truth be told, this past week has had so many beautiful releases but I knew I had to talk about The Rose because after the issues that occurred between the group and their company - I did not expect for them to release a song, especially because I thought that they were either going to disband or go on an indefinite hiatus. This song is honestly just the perfect gift that The Rose could give us Black Roses (their fandom) at the end of 2021, which is why I knew I had to talk about it. The first aspect that captures your attention is the unique title - Beauty and the Beast, which sparks curiosity due to the fairytale of the same name. The second aspect that captures your attention are the heavenly-looking concept photos in which the look like royalty in their well-tailored suits and perfectly permed hairstyles; their facial expressions conveying some type of intense story. The third aspect that undeniably captures your attention is the usage of dark colours in the thumbnail, a complete contrast to the beautiful fairytale that we know of the young French girl who falls in love with a prince that was cursed to be a hideous beast. When I was listening to the song, I could not pick my favourite part. The lyrics were so beautiful and bittersweet, and they did not feel like your typical lyrics - they were just so poetic and you could feel the raw emotions radiating off them. Even if you don’t speak or understand the Korean language, The Rose did the perfect job of conveying the story and emotions through the use of music, and it just demonstrates how powerful music is. The music video is honestly just a cinematic masterpiece, to the point where it doesn’t even feel like you’re watching a typical music video. The cinematography was just spectacular and I love how most of the music video consists of grey and dark colours (that are often associated with negative emotions), but towards the end of the music video - we get bright colours such as yellows and blues, which almost give a sign of hope. It is clear that there is a deep meaning within this song, and I highly respect The Rose because it’s not easy to produce a great comeback after a 2 year hiatus but they nailed it. The production value is just- simply breathtaking, and I am so proud of them. Woosung and Dojoon’s unique vocals just sound godly and the way they are able to perfectly express their feelings to match the vibe of the music video is just insane. It takes some people years in order to perform at this standard, and the fact that The Rose have only been around for 4 years just surprises me because they really give the vibe of a band that has many years of experience. That’s how good and talented they are. If I had to give this song a rating, I’d have to give it a 10/10 without a doubt. It was just the perfect gift for their fans and I have had the song on repeat ever since it was first released. Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon and Jaehyeong all did a spectacular job.

News from December 25th to December 31st

SM ENTERTAINMENT REVEALS FEMALE SUPERGROUP GIRLS ON TOP

BoA, aespa's Winter and Karina, Red Velvet's Seulgi and Wendy, and Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Hyoyeon are among the of SM Entertainment's new female supergroup Girls On Top, which was unveiled on December 27 KST. They also published the first photo of the team together to tease their future actions in addition to the announcement. Girls On Top will not only perform a special stage on January 1, but will also release a song together on January 3 at 6 p.m. KST, according to the statement.

TWICE ANNOUNCES JAPAN TOUR DATES OF 4TH WORLD TOUR 'III'

TWICE will be performing two concerts at the Tokyo Dome on April 23 and 24, according to JYP Entertainment. Meanwhile, TWICE completed the Seoul leg of their global tour on December 26 KST, and will resume the trip in mid-February with stops in Inglewood, Oakland, Fort Worth, Atlanta, and New York City.

BTS'S RM AND JIN DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19

BTS's agency BIGHIT released a statement on December 25 evening KST confirming that RM and Jin have tested positive for COVID-19. Both has performed PCR test this afternoon after experiencing flu-like symptoms, and it came back positive. Both of the is claimed to be receiving therapy at home because they are having some moderate symptoms.

WOO!AH! DROPS THE OFFICIAL COMEBACK SCHEDULE FOR 'CATCH THE STARS

NV Entertainment's girl group released their return schedule for their new digital single, 'Catch the Stars,' on December 27 at midnight KST. woo!ah! will provide teases until the album's official release on January 4th, according to the stated comeback timetable.

BRAVE GIRLS POSTPONE THEIR FIRST SOLO CONCERT

Brave Entertainment revealed on the official fan cafe on December 27th KST that the group's first solo concert will be postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 issues.

VERIVERY'S YONGSEUNG FULLY RECOVERS FROM COVID-19

Jellyfish Entertainment issued an official announcement regarding VERIVERY member Yongseung's recovery from COVID-19 on December 28 KST. Official statement from the label:  "VERIVERY member Yongseung has been notified of his full recovery from COVID-19, and he was released from quarantine on the morning of December 27, 2021 after U.S. health authorities determined he was no longer contagious (...) according to quarantine guidelines, he will self-isolate for 10 days following his arrival."

MIRAE CONFIRMED TO MAKE A COMEBACK THIS JANUARY

"The group MIRAE will be releasing their third mini album on January 12 KST," DSP Media announced on December 28 KST. Following the release of their small album 'Splash- MIRAE 2nd Album' in September 2021, MIRAE has made a quick comeback in just three months. In the meantime, MIRAE is working on their third mini album, which will be released on January 12 KST.

KEP1ER'S XIAOTING AND MASHIRO HAVE FULLY RECOVERED FROM COVID-19 AND ARE OUT OF SELF-QUARANTINE

Shen Xiaoting and Mashiro, who were previously believed to have tested positive for COVID-19 early this month, have fully recovered and are out of self-quarantine, according to a statement made by Kep1er's agencies WAKEONE and SWING Entertainment on December 26. Meanwhile, after having to postpone their debut owing to a staff member testing positive, Kep1er has just announced a new debut date: January 3rd.

FORMER 4MINUTE MEMBER NAM JI HYUN SIGNS WITH NEW AGENCY

On December 28th, it was announced that former 4Minute member Nam Ji Hyun has signed with FN Entertainment!

MOMOLAND ANNOUNCES COMEBACK DATE

On December 28th, a source from MLD Entertainment announced, “MOMOLAND will be making a comeback with new music on January 14 of next year.”

TVXQ'S CHANGMIN CONFIRMED FOR JANUARY COMEBACK

On December 28th, Sports DongA reported that Changmin is preparing to make a comeback in January 2022. SM Entertainment later confirmed that Changmin is scheduled to release a new solo album in January.

DAY6'S DOWOON TO ENLIST IN THE MILITARY

On December 28th, Dowoon and Wonpil held a special Naver V Live broadcast together. During the broadcast, Dowoon revealed that he would be enlisting on January 17th, 2022.

VICTON TO MAKE JANUARY COMEBACK

On December 28th, VICTON announced the details of their comeback with a mew teaser. The group will be returning with their third single album “Chronograph”—the first chapter of their new “Time” trilogy—in January 2022.

TEEN TOP'S NIEL AND CHANGJO ANNOUNCE DEPARTURE FROM TOP MEDIA

On December 28th, TOP Media announced that Teen Top Niel and Changjo will be leaving their agency TOP Media following the expiration of their contracts. Their contracts expire on January 10, 2022. The other remaining have longer contracts.

HYBE RELEASES STATEMENTS REGARDING LEGAL ACTION FOR MALICIOUS AGAINST THEIR ARTISTS

On December 29th, HYBE announced updates on its legal response to malicious commenters and other individuals attacking its artists BTS, SEVENTEEN, TXT, NU’EST, and ENHYPEN. The company filed criminal complaints and additional legal action against online perpetrators, and further filed criminal suits against charged perpetrators.

LOONA'S AGENCY DENIES DATING RUMOURS BETWEEN HEEJIN AND D1CE'S WOO JIN YOUNG

LOONA’s agency has denied dating rumors between HeeJin and D1CE’s Woo Jin Young, stating the two are not personally acquainted. Rumours arose after a recent V Live broadcast where viewers spotted a blonde male in HeeJin's iPad photo gallery who was speculated to be Woo Jin Young. The agency clarified that the photo was HeeJin's older male cousin.

FROMIS_9 SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY COMEBACK

On December 30th at midnight KST, fromis_9 released a trailer for their comeback with their fourth mini album “Midnight Guest.” The group also announced that they would be coming back on January 17th at 6 PM KST.

BTS WINS SPECIAL AWARD FOR 2ND YEAR IN A ROW AT JAPAN RECORDS AWARDS

On December 30th local time, Japan Record Awards, an annual music awards ceremony considered to be the Japanese equivalent to the Grammy Awards—aired live on TBS. For the second consecutive year, BTS won the Special International Music Award!

JAY PARK STEPS DOWN AS CEO OF AOMG AND H1GHR MUSIC

On December 31st, Jay Park announced on his Instagram that he will be stepping down from his position as CEO of both AOMG and H1GHR MUSIC.

BTS’S AGENCY DENIES RM'S DATING RUMORS

A YouTube channel posted a video on December 30th claiming that there was evidence of BTS’s RM being in a relationship with a wealthy woman of the same age since 2019. Big Hit Music responded on December 31, stating “The dating rumors involving RM are not true.” Earlier in the week, Big Hit Music also denied rumors involving Jungkook that were posted on YouTube.
