Hello everyone! I can’t believe it’s that time again! Another year has ed since I’ve decided to ult the wonderfully talented artist, Xu Minghao. The past 2 years have been full of ups and down, and I was able to look up to Minghao as an artist through it all. So thank you Minghao for being you

This year, I want to take a moment to appreciate how much he has improved over the years into the beautiful vocalist and talented rapper he is now. I will be sharing some of my favorite lines Minghao sings and raps in Seventeen’s songs.

I’m starting it off with the classic OMG by the performance unit. This line is absolutely iconic and will never die. The way he sounds so young and adorable is completely different from when he sang that line during the Diamond Edge tour in 2017. This goes to show how much he’s improved in just 2 years, and I ire that determination.

Ever since I first heard this line, I’ve been completely in love with it. Though the lyrics, not just of this part but the whole song as well, are a little dispirited, the way his adorable voice sings the line make it feel happy and cute! Whenever I’m having a bad day, I’ll just put this song on and that adorable voice would instantly heal my heart, contrary to the song’s meaning! (I feel the exact same way about Night and Rain. It’s a sad song yet it’s very comforting).

Going Seventeen, 2016

Here we have another comforting song, but this one is extremely upbeat! This line in the chorus never fails to make me happy, and I can see how happy this song makes him while I watch live stages! Beautiful is one of those songs I know will live on forever in my memory as a song I always turned out to jam out to and feel happy! I love Beautiful so much!!

Highlight

Going Seventeen, 2016

Y’all know this wouldn’t be a Minghao lyrics blog without this iconic line. One of the most famous misheard lyrics of all time (I’m like a bird not a turkey), it has forever gained a place in my heart not just because of the meme factor, but because of his super adorable sounding voice yet again. I just honestly can’t get over how adorable it sounds! Also, the way he looks at the camera during that line in the music video is so aaaaaaaaaajshjsbsb. It wrecks me so much and I can’t get enough of it. Highlight is definitely one of my top favorite Seventeen songs, and I love Minghao’s line so much (especially rapping in chinese during the chorus!!)

Another one of my top favorite Seventeen songs, Without You never fails to make my eyes water. This line Minghao repeats over and over in the first chorus is one of the most beautiful things that he’s ever sang. It also never fails to bring tears to my eyes. The way you can hear and see how much emotion he puts into those lines is bone chilling. As bittersweet this era is with Minghao struggling through his injury, this line brings so much beauty that contrasts that. It’s so beautiful, and I highly suggest listening to this song.

Lilili Yabbay

Okay so I know I’ve said for most of the songs so far that they are in my top favorite Seventeen songs, but Lilili Yabbay is for sure in my top 5. It’s just that good and I’m absolutely obsessed with the choreography. Minghao’s line in the beginning, right after Hoshi, hooks you into the song and keeps you wanting more. Every time I listen to Lilili Yabbay, no matter where I am (yes even in public!), I always cheer after his line because I’m so excited that Lilili Yabbay is playing and Minghao is just so talented!

Again, we have another song from Teen, Age. It’s just that album. Flower never disappoints and I was so excited when they finally made choreography for it and got to perform it! A few days after I got into Seventeen, they dropped this album and I was in awe. Anyways, this is one of the first songs we really get to hear Minghao rap not with another member or for like 2 seconds, but actually a whole part to himself we can hear so clearly! I’m so happy he was given that line! Also, the first one I put there is his first line in the song. Again, his absolutely adorable singing voice steals my heart. I also notice a big improvement since 2016, and I’m so proud of him!

Thinkin’ About You

Director’s Cut, 2018

He made such a powerful comeback with the Teen, Age album repackage, Director’s Cut, after his injury. I notice how much he’s improved in such a short amount of time since he had time to himself to focus on himself as an artist other than dancing. Anyways, this song is so fun and I love blasting it when I’m in a good mood! It’s so catchy and I love it so much!!! Minghao’s line in the bridge is a nice refresher from the loud, in your face, upbeat happiness of the rest of the song. It’s such an adorable addition to the song that allows you to appreciate his voice!

Here we have the ever so iconic Japanese debut song, Call Call Call! Minghao absolutely slayed all of his lines, especially this one in the bridge! Honestly, I didn’t realize the “Call me call me call me call me” line was his until a few weeks ago. I just always thought it was a line said by all of Seventeen, but I’m not complaining! It absolutely slays. When I first heard Call Call Call, I was freaking out because they all sounded so good in Japanese, especially Minghao! I’m super excited that he’s singing in another language besides Korean, Chinese, and English! We stan a Chinese male in a Korean group singing a Japanese song!

Everyone, I present to you my absolute favorite Seventeen song of all time, Holiday. I fell in love at first listen and I’m still going strong to this day. It never fails to bring tears of happiness to my eyes. Minghao’s line in the second verse is the most adorable sounding thing he’s ever sang. I know I’ve said it before, but this is really the cutest line he’s been given! Akshskbsjdb I just think he sounds so cute all the time help meeee. Anyways, I strongly recommend listening to this song as well. It’s one of those happy, feel good summer songs that will never fail to put you in a good mood! Ahh I love Minghao’s lines in Holiday!

Ahhh yes, Moonwalker, a performance unit song where Minghao gets to show off more of his rapping! In fact, he raps way more than he sings in this song! Pledis thank youuuu! We love character development sksndnnd. Anyways, Minghao has grown into such a talented rapper. I got teary eyed when I first heard Moonwalker because he impressed me so much! We also can’t forget the infamous 매일 x10 (yes I counted) with Luv me x5, which I didn’t put up there but it’s still iconic. I was so excited when I finally got to see choreography to the song! Minghao looked so ethereal!!

Honestly, all I can say is wow. Just wow. This song wrecked me so hard the first time I heard it when the album came out that it was threatening to dethrone Holiday as my favorite Seventeen song right at that moment. Minghao absolutely kills this song in every aspect. He not only sings so beautifully with that adorable voice of his (I just can’t say it enough I’m sorry sjshjsbd), he also raps amazingly (and yes his cute voice jumps out again even though this song is far from cute oop)! That whispering line (the second one I put up there) has me dead on the floor every time I hear it. It’s just so... aaaaaaaaaAaaa. He should NOT be allowed to sound that good I’m- aaaAAAjshsjsbb

This song is another happy, feel good song and I’m here for it! This song, in my opinion, is the best song to sing along to, especially this Minghao line which I’ve written above. It’s just so catchy and I love blasting it and singing along! It makes me so happy! Yes, it is another rapping line and I love that so much! He deserves all the rap lines he gets because he’s such a multitalented artist! I’m so glad he’s able to experiment new ways of expressing himself, especially through new songs like this!

AAAAHH A PERFORMANCE UNIT BALLAD!!! I’ve been waiting so long for one of these since they covered vocal unit’s Habit! I love singing along to this ballad and the choreography is so beautiful! Anyways, MINGHAO IN THIS SONG OH MY GOODNESS!! His vocals really came to shine and I love them so much!! They’re still as cute sounding as ever because Minghao is Minghao, but I love how beautiful he sounds, especially the one line I wrote above as my favorite!

This was a blessing to all Carats. We’ve been waiting so long for a Foreigners Line song, and our wish was granted! Minghao in this song go to show off even more of his amazing rapping and vocals, especially with THAT ONE HIGH NOTE BEFORE THE CHORUS IM- AAAAaaa (the second one up there)! I was not expecting that at all, and Minghao surprised me so much that I started crying at 4am while listening to it as it came out. I absolutely love all of his lines in this song and I couldn’t choose one so I put my favorite 3. I love this song so much and I’m so glad the Foreigners Line decided to bless us!!

Ahhh this song is so cute!! I love playing it when I feel happy! We’ve been waiting for a refreshing cute concept for a while since Oh My and we were all blessed! Minghao sounds so adorable singing this part, especially the 3 2 1 shoot! He’s definitely improved so much with cute concepts since debut and I love him so much for that! Also watching him perform this line during live stages is the best thing ever! He looks like he’s having so much fun and he looks so cute during this line!! Snap Shoot is just so adorable!!

Though it’s not officially out yet, I’m still counting it as a song to write for! It’s close enough to April 1st anyways. This is so exciting! Also spoiler alert, MINGHAO STARTS OFF THE SONG AND I CRIED AT SCHOOL WHEN I HEARD IT!!! He sounds so beautiful like my heart actually can’t take it! He’s improved his Japanese so much since Call Call Call and Happy Ending, not to mention he just keeps improving and improving over the years in general! I got so teary eyed when I compared his lines in this song to OMG. You can hear how much his determination made him improve vocally. I’m actually getting teary eyed right now thinking about it! Ahhh Minghao, you’ve improved so much over the years! I’m so infinitely proud of your accomplishments and I can’t wait to see what Seventeen does after the Japanese comeback! I love you Minghao!! :two_hearts:
