Welcome back to my discography series! The group I will be talking about today is OnlyOneOf

If you don’t know, the purpose of this little series is to let me take the time to sit down and go through the discographies of groups I haven’t gotten around to yet. What I end up talking about are the cream-of-the-crop songs that were suited to my own personal taste. All in all, it’s just a fancy way for me to freak out over some good music and share it with everyone :joy:

I am very new to OnlyOneOf. I’ve known OF them since around libidO, since that was the first song of theirs I had listened to

I did also check out their latest comeback, dOpamine, but other than that I went in totally blind on this

I do have a bias and a wrecker, and it is Nine and Rie. They stuck out a lot to me back when I first saw libidO and I still agree with past me lol

Just one more thing. I actually didn’t find anything I wanted to put into my Obsessions playlist. That doesn’t mean I hated their music at all, I still found a good chunk of songs I really enjoyed

The ones I’m going to go through are ones I put into Gems, which is still a REALLY big compliment from me. The difference between Gems and Obsessions is basically perfection vs. beyond my expectations, perfection + 1 lol

For clarification if you haven’t read one of my discography posts yet, I do rewatch/listen to the songs while I’m writing about them. So if I go off on a tangent or start cussing out a member or something, it’s because I’m just writing out my thoughts as I go :sweat_smile: :sob:

fragile

I love the laid-back vibe throughout the entire song

Even the chorus, which suddenly gets this explosion of energy, isn’t too over-the-top for the overall vibe. It flows back into the calmer verses really well

Love and Nine’s harmonized rap was really cool :tired_face:

‘You shouldn’t spill ‘it’s over’’ the emotion in that line is really strong, it’s definitely the part that gets stuck in my head the most

Okay, here’s where I’m tested on whether I can tell who tf is who without it being a still image :triumph: (it’s mostly Yoojung and Love I get confused with :sob: )

I know my babies Nine and Rie anywhere though :tired_face: their voices stick out to me so much

I like the first part of the chorus, but the second half with the distorted ‘mm nana’ is 🤌 :sparkles:

There’s a certain melody in the song that is the most addicting part to me. It’s at the very start with Nine and Rie and then right after the first chorus with KB and Nine. I don’t know, it just sounds really nice

Rie, Junji, and Love on that bridge :tired_face: :raised_hands:

Similar to fragile, it’s very laid-back and I can just vibe along to it

The chorus is a lot more subdued than fragile, but I think it fits really well here

Love and Nine stuck out to me, I just really liked their voices on this song, especially in the bridge. Love also had a really nice, soft high note at about 1:42

gaslighting

This is my favorite song of theirs. I was 🤏 close to putting it into Obsessions

First off :point_up: , the outfits. Am I surprised? No. Did I still have a :open_mouth: 🫢 moment? Yes.

They look fine as hell though :raised_hands: I love Junji’s skirt and Mill’s top. Plus Yoojung looks so pretty with the long blond hair 🤧

Nine’s voice on this song fits too well :hand: I’m not okay

The chest pumping on the chorus is simultaneously hilarious, hot, and kinda startling!?

That bass is even hotter though :tired_face:

Yoojung needs to stop looking at me like that 🫵 he’s f*cking glaring right into my soul :sob:

chrOme arts

The delicate, almost whispered, singing right before the drop is so nice :tired_face: especially with it being completely silent for that second or two and really letting the vocal be front-and-center

Then the drop :tired_face: :raised_hands: :sparkles:

WHY ARE THEY ALL HOT AS F*CK!? The pose, the outfits, the slight head tilt, I- ⚰

Mill… I need you to not right now :hand: that hairstyle looks really good on him

That ‘OW!’ before Yoojung’s part was a nice touch

I’m actively trying not to acknowledge Nine at the moment :sob: I’m looking everywhere but at him LOL

I love KB and Yoojung’s part right before the final chorus 🤌 :sparkles:

They killed that choreo as well :relieved:

Dude, I accidentally had put both this and the Japanese version in my playlist because I didn’t realize it was the same song :skull: it was just that good 🤷‍♀

It’s such a soft song, I feel comforted when I listen to it (even if the lyrics are bittersweet)

You know, I think this one’s actually also my favorite. It hits a very different part of my brain than gaslighting, but it’s just as good. I’m almost tempted to move this up into Obsessions. Maybe I will in the future :eyes:

The buildup into the chorus is subtle but really nice. And then the rhythm and melody of the chorus itself just makes me want to keep replaying it. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it

Their individual solo songs were all really well done, but one stuck out to me the most :eyes:

Rie - because

He looks so cute with this soft, floofy brown hair 🤧

His vocals were really allowed to shine in this song, I love his voice so much :tired_face:

Him leaning in to take a photo of Junji’s abs makes me laugh every time :joy: :sob: so real for that lmao

I am in love with he way his tone rises and strengthens at the end of the pre-chorus into the chorus

I don’t know what they’re fighting about, but don’t fight :sob: I’m not good with angst and confrontation, also the poor paper cranes

I’m so happy I’ve finally dove into OnlyOneOf :tired_face: I’ve heard about them so much over the years and it feels great to finally understand the love and hype

Not all of their songs hit super hard for me, and that’s alright. Not every group I do this for is going to become my new ult. I already have too many :hand: :sob:

I still have really come to love this group and I’ll for sure be keeping a closer eye on them from now on 👁👁
