What attracts me to kpop!?

honestly, it's just music and music in all forms is appreciated no matter what. But what attracts me to kpop anyways is a question that randomly popped up in my mind and i could actually come up with some sort of reasons for it. So anyways, enough of the yapping and let's get started already!

the beginning

so this kpop thing for me begun sometime back in the late 2019 or 2020 i guess. I used to go to my coaching in this conveyance van and there were these girls, 80% of them were bts fangirlies. At first, i really didn't know what that was. I mean, it was my first time even discovering that a place named Korea exists, i mean, talk about being oblivious. But there we go, these girls, highly enthusiastic about bts, especially V, they were contagious because they sucked me in right away. And yes, there we go, 5 to 6 years later and I'm still a kpop fan, an avid one.

now I'm not gonna talk big and stuff. I'll come clean. The handsome dudes really pull me in. I mean, who wouldn't wanna watch handsome boys dancing and singing up on the pedestal in a different kind of glow, a different kinda manhood you don't watch as such if you're not east asian. For me, i definitely was oblivious to these kinda boys, you know, white skinned, those asian eyes, cute smiles, hairless, every corner of them shouting aesthetic, woah woah, I'm totally in. Not a day goes by when I'm not simping over a good looking man from the kpop world. V, Yeonjun, Soobin, Kai, Felix, Bang Chan, RIIZE, EXO, SHINee, Jin, Hyunjin, Rowoon, Sunghoon, Jay, some other handsome idols I don't know the name of, and the damning list goes on. I swear I don't lie but these handsome guys are the elephant in the room, my top 1 reason to stay in kpop.

and now, well, let's get to the main part. Ofcourse, the music. Although everyone says that kpop is pop itself, like your English artists, just korean. But I don't seem to agree a 100% on that. I do agree they share the same genre, but the vibe? That's totally different! The aesthetic, totally different! The entirety! Totally different! The music videos aren't just simple videos, uk, where they're just dancing, acting cool, it's like some kind of dopamine shot but in an exciting dose. The people in the music videos, they shine. They just shine. The music, so pop coded but something about it entirely different. The visuals, the cinematography, the entirety, just magnetic. I swear kpop really has good music.

the fan service

now this might be over the top and yes, I am definitely one of those strong believers that the fan service is only a marketing custom, nothing more than that. But let's deviate. I don't regularly get to see artists that actually give so much, and by so much, I mean SO F***ING MUCH to their fans. People literally have official fandom nomenclatures, light sticks, colours and all. They go out of their way for the fan service. They are always like, I love my fans. My fans are everything for me. My fans this, my fans that. I mean, as a young rookie into the kpop fandom, those act of services definitely climbed up my head for real. Now, it's obviously different, i mean, everyone has to mature up right? But still, that fan service is insane. I mean, i atleast have someone to tell me that they love me, even if they're miles away and have a 0.000001 percent chance of being aware of my existence haha.
