Why do we live if only to suffer

Uhh so I was talking to my parents about maybe going to this arts uni in my province, bc I thought it might play to my strengths, open up career options, yk. And they straight up shot me down,,, they were saying how I wouldn’t stick with it, how there’s little jobs out there for artists (even practical artists like graphic design) and that if I wanted to make any money to an arts career, I would need to take other, more practical college courses as well (I mean duh, but still.) I deadass never talk to them about this kinda shi bc they always shoot me down, or find a way to make me feel dumb, or undermine my ideas. They’re the ones pressuring me to make decisions about my future and then when I try to make one they make me feel bad. Like it’s so frustrating. Ofc it wouldn’t be easy attending an arts uni, but I know that. It’s not gonna be easy attending any other uni either. I thought I had finally made a concrete decision, something I could actually be good at, something I like. Apparently not,,
