making pngs and png packs | tutorial

first off, to make pngs you’re going to need an app/program/etc. to make them. i mainly do my pngs on the ibispaint x app! (currently trying to master making them in photoshop🥲) you can use other phone applications specifically meant for cutting out backgrounds, but i find that i work best with ibispaint x :)

there are also many instant background removal websites online. i.e. remove.bg, cutout.pro. bUT, the pngs are normally on the lq side unless you pay :/

anyways, now to actually get into it!

i’ll be using ibispaint x for this portion of the tutorial

i’ve already made a tutorial going in depth on how to cut hair on pngs here. here i’ll be focusing on the whole png :)

first,

import picture from your gallery in ibispaint x

if the image size is large, sometimes it’ll ask you if you want to optimize it. click whichever option you want!

next, the first thing that i do when the image is up is create a new layer and color it either black or a bright color like red.

after, go back to the image layer and start erasing an outline. this is to get rid of the excess background. when you done with that, start going into to detail. i use the ‘Felt Tip Pen (Hard)’ brush. occasionally i will use the ‘Hair’ brush for difficult hair.

on the topic of hair, if you plan on erasing hair, make sure you’re not erasing it away while going into detail!

use this tutorial to learn how to cut the hair with all its details!

after you’re done with the png, you can add in a watermark (in the case that you’re ing it to deviantart).

here’s my final result! (with a drop shadow)

so, now you’re done making pngs! what’s next?

well, you have to save them in a zip file OR in a google drive folder (maybe both?)

make sure to save them into your phone gallery!

there are a couple ways to do these.

use the izip app

use google drive

i do have an old tutorial on how to do this with another app, but i don’t use this method anymore. regardless, here’s the link.

now, making a zip file with izip!

open the izip app and click on photos.

select all the pngs you’ll be adding to the file

then click zip!

once zipped, select the file and and click on the

box symbol on top. there, the option to rename

it will show up.

here’s how to on google drive

google drive is a staple in many of our lives, so i’m sure y’all are familiar with it. but, for those that aren’t, here ya go!

click on the plus sign on the bottom

choose folder then once in it, click on

the plus sign once again to the pngs!

after, go to manage links and change the

settings to ‘Anyone with link’

to create a zip file on google drive, you’re are going to have to go to the online website. use the computer version when on mobile so that it doesn’t bring you back to the gd app!

all you have to do is click on the drop down next to the folder name, then click !

now that you’ve created your zip/gd folder, it’s time to make a png pack preview!!

if you’re ing a file to deviantart, you need to add an image, so previews are kind of required lol.

we all have our own styles and ways to edit, so i’m not going to specifically teach you how to make a preview. instead, i’ll give some tips!

personally, i make my previews on photoshop and save them as a psd so i can continuously use it.

you can also use photopea. if you don’t have a computer, then making it in ibispaint x is fine too.

here are some of my previews that i’ve used or am using:

when making the preview, i always try to do two things!

-incorporate colors from the pngs

-have at least three previews!

i don’t always know how many pngs i’ll be making, so to play it safe, i use three and add in more pngs to the preview if i feel like it.

some extra things i like to add in the previews are my deviantart page link and the pack number! also, if you’re lacking inspo, just search up ‘kpop png pack’ on google and many examples will show up!

ing your png pack!

ing on deviantart is fairly simple. just have you’re files and preview ready!

first, go to the deviantart website! not the app!!

if on mobile, make sure that you’re using the computer version of the site.

then, click on submit>deviation

after that, your zip file. then click on the pencil icon and change preview image.

after, put in a bit of information (you can link the google drive folder if you want), add tags, and place it in any specific folders that you want (to access that, click on show advanced options).
