is there a way to be a “student” to the tutorial team? like someone that learns from the team?
The team does not have that position; the knowledge the team has to offer its shared publicly through their posts rather than having 'private' lessons, i believe that you may like this far more:

also i still encourage you to apply to the tutorial team give it a try tho !
