A Trip To The Butterfly Mansion

Ryuko, Mako, and Satsuki had been walking for hours on end to get to wherever this 'Butterfly Mansion' was, and all three were starting to complain.

"Are we almost there yet?" Ryuko groaned. "My feet hurt." She sighed and tucked a loose piece of hair behind her ear.

Mako looked around, but saw nothing except a long dirt road they'd been traveling on for miles. "Mine too. I hope we make it there soon." She itted.

Satsuki was a little quiet, but she was grumbling under her breath about how idiotic it was that they were traveling to an unknown place to meet someone that couldn't even come find them on his own. "What was his name again? Master... something?"

"Master Kagaya, I believe." Ryuko answered and started rummaging through her pockets to find the letter a crow had dropped off at Honnoji Academy. "Yea. It's Master Kagaya." She said, pointing to the signature.

"Who is this guy anyways? Why does he want to see us?" Mako asked, still looking around in hopes of spotting some type of building that she assumed would be surrounded by butterflies.

The sisters shrugged. "No idea. We've never met him." Satsuki butted in. She wasn't trying to sound rude. She just really wanted to get off her feet.

After a few more hours of walking, they had finally ran out of water and all three were drenched in sweat. "This... is... really... starting... to get... ridiculous..." Ryuko panted as she wiped sweat off her forehead.

Mako was about to give her an inspirational speech, as usual, but she stopped when she saw a beautiful purple glow not too far from where they currently were. "Maybe that place has some water." She said nonchalantly and pointed towards the mysterious building that was lit up by something coming from behind it.

Without hesitation, Satsuki and Ryuko took off running towards the building. "H-hey! Wait for me!" Mako yelled. "Guys! Don't leave me behind!"

"Hurry up, Mako! We need to get water asap!" Ryuko called back. Mako sighed, but started running as quickly as she could to catch up with the other two.

When they reached the building with the purple glow behind it, they stopped and stared at it in awe. "What-- what is this place?" Ryuko asked no one in particular. She was just so mesmerized by the sight of the beautiful purple Wisteria trees.

Someone cleared their throat a little ways away from them, but it caught all of their attention. "My name is Kagaya Ubuyashiki." The man said. He was being ed and held up to walk towards them by a couple of his children, his wife following close behind. "Welcome to the Butterfly Mansion." He smiled.

Mako leaned over to Ryuko and whispered, "What's on his face? Is he okay?" Ryuko just shrugged, not sure how to answer.

Satsuki turned around and bopped them both on the head. "You're being disrespectful in the presence of a master. Bow." She commanded as she was already in the process of bowing down herself.

Mako and Ryuko hesitated, then bowed. "Now what?" Ryuko whispered.

"Now, I welcome you into my home. Come. You can meet many of my children, some which have trained all their lives, some trained until they coughed up blood, and others who were so naturally gifted that simply picking up a sword was like breathing to them." Kagaya answered in a low, soothing tone.

The girls raised their heads and looked at each other, slightly confused, but walked quickly to catch up behind him.

"May I ask you a personal question?" Satsuki started. "What is this that covers your body?"

Kagaya stopped walking and turned towards the three with a soft smile. "It's a deadly disease that's been ed down my family for generations, but it's alright. I may be physically weak and blind, but with the help of my precious children and lovely wife, I am able to continue on."

The girls didn't know how to reply. They'd never seen such a disease, nor had they expected him to be so positive about it.

"I understand. I appreciate you answering my question. My apologies if it sounded rude." Satsuki said.

Kagaya smiled once more at her and patted her shoulder. "Not at all." He turned and began walking towards the Butterfly Mansion. "Now, I'd like you to meet my other children."

Mako spoke up this time. "How many children do you have, Sir?"

"Many. I have many children. These, however, are my Hashira. They protect the people I cannot." Kagaya's wife pushed open the gate and led everyone to the back of the Butterfly Mansion where the tree glowed the brightest. Waiting for them, already kneeling on the ground, was each Hashira hand picked by Kagaya himself.

•I chose to do a crossover with KNY or Demon Slayer, if you prefer, because it's one of my favorite animes. I wasn't sure how well this would turn out, but I think it looks okay. I hope you all enjoy reading it.
