To be or not to be a leader

Hello hello everyone.

You must be wondering who is this weird person. This nobody that suddenly bursts into this wonderful amino.

And rightfully so. I’m probably a stranger to everyone here. Then again, maybe not everyone.

“Why do you say that?” You might ask! (Or not, I am just an old lady talking nonsense after all)

So, yesterday as I sneakily came back to check upon the amino (after literally years of being away), I was overwhelmed with how many messages I had received. Many aren’t even that old, just a couple of months ago, which is why I felt the need to write this post.

What are those messages about, you might wonder. Well, surprisingly enough, most are about people wanting to be leaders or curators. There were other reasons, like asking for titles or demanding an explanation as to why their posts were taken down. But most were leader petitions.

And when I say I have received a lot of messages about it, I mean a lot a lot.

Reason why I felt the need to come out of my cave. Because I have a couple of things to say about that.

First of all, I haven’t been the leader of this Amino in years. That’s right. Years. Yes, I created it. But I haven’t been a part of this Amino, or Amino in general, in about two years.

Maybe even more? Wouldn’t surprise me, to be honest.

Anyway, what I’m trying to get at is that if you reeeeally want to be a leader, don’t ask me. I’m afraid you’re barking at the wrong tree my friend.

I have no idea why people think I can still choose, given that I’m not a leader or even a curator. I don’t even know how some people know I was a leader before.

My second point: you should enjoy being a part of this amazing community. You don’t need to be a leader to have a blast here.

If there is the need for a new leader, the decision won’t be taken lightly.

And if you really want to be a part of either team, you can try applying for smaller titles and work yourself up the ranks. If you keep a record of quality content posts, which are mostly all featured, and you contribute to the overall community participation, it’s most likely that leaders and curators will have you considered to if there’s the need for a new member. You won’t even need to ask.

Third, I know for a fact that asking to be a leader will not make a difference. Take it from someone who was a curator in more than one Amino and leaded this same one back in the day. I when I was planning on leaving the app and I searched for someone to lead in my stead.

I didn’t look for who wanted to be a leader. I looked for who deserved to be.

In what basis? I’m glad you (did’t) ask!

I kind of already mentioned some pointers before but it basically consists on:

Posting quality content. And by that I mean feature worthy content.

Be active, engage with the community. Comment on other people’s posts, make friends.

Create challenges that people participate in, making the community active and alive.

Don’t break the rules of the Amino.

These are like the basics to be a good member of the community.

Please keep in mind that doing all the above still won’t 100% secure you a spot, because as I said before, the leaders know how many curators/leaders are needed and they will know when it’s ideal to expand the team and when not to.

But by following the above, it’s most likely you’ll be on their radar when they look for someone.

I don’t really expect anyone to give this post a second glance, but I still feel like it’s necessary for me to address.

I don’t know if there is a time restraint about Kingdom Hearts 3 spoiler content here, so until I know when and how much I can post about KH3, I will add spoiler warnings. Which will be a lot because I can’t stop talking/posting about that game.
