Activity crisis in my community

To tell you my situation, the community I'm in charge is pretty huge and has been around for 4 years. Staff teams have changed over the years but this year isn't doing as great as it was back then.

We have over 50k ! But only 5-15 people are active daily... (I will try to make this description of my amino as vague as possible)

We opened curator applications, it's almost been a month since yet no one has applied. Is it because the questions are too hard? I'm considering it.

And to make it worse our staff team only consist of 2 people!

So far i feel like I've done more work than a staff that has been in charge for more years than i am. It feels like I'm managing the whole community all by myself.. and with stats like this (taken today)

We finally bring back a long running event that is hosted each week. But the team also has few . They opened an application too but no one has applied

This community feels as if... it's slowly decaying

I've been in this community for at least 2 years now and it feels really sad for it to go this way. I have also been using this app for 5 years so I can see how amino is slowly downgrading.

(this was taken at the time I was really active with my friends in public chatrooms, back in 2018/9)

2018-2019 was a blast! 100-200 people would be active each day.

I met some awesome people along the way and I still talk to them to this day. I used to talk to my friends for hours in amino. Now most of them seems to have moved on from amino and move on to other platforms, like discord. Which i oughta say it's fairly understandable considering how laggy amino can be.

I feel sad, i made a lot of memories here and when I just finally got the chance to moderate it. Well not everything stays the same you know? haha. My friend had a dream that this community will end which could be foreshadowing? lol.

Jokes aside..i would love to get tips on how to improve activity and gain more people to be interested in moderating things!

This post became a bit of a rant haha, sorry about that. I feel like i want to let it out. Thank you so much if you read this far, I really appreciate it.

i will go to sleep now since i got school tomorrow. byebye and thank you again!

Let's be honest. Activity across the whole platform has dropped off for a few reasons. We all know what those are.

Yes, people have moved from this platform to others over the years.

I'm a leader in a 400k member amino and we've seen ours fall also. For lots of reasons.

My question for you is:

What is the theme of your amino, and is it too narrow to pull more in, and keep them engaged?

Your amino may have been perfect for when you set it up, and got it rolling, but now you may need to revise its focus, or change it up. To keep it fresh and active.

The big reason I say this, is the lack of people wanting to help out. That needs to be looked at, and a solution found. Because if no one wants to mod there, something needs to change.

I know that sounds brutal, but it's a question that's worth to ask.

It doesn't matter, kpop and anime will always be the biggest because they hit people from 10-18 years range, also there's a lot of new content, the problem with art is that, usually art lovers are 18+ and Amino might not attract them, also, not everyone likes art and it's sad bcz art is good, but was i said, anime and kpop, have content released every week/mouth and it hits a lot of countrys

There's another problem on that, a lot of toxic people Amino, those Toxic people might Change other peoples mind or ofend someone, and that might be a reason for people to leave Amino.

Amino Coins have been destroyed by acc with 1M ac.

Also, Amino staff changed, Amino has been sold to another enterprise, the new staff is now starting to get up with the app framework/correcting bugs and etc.

I hope One day Amino changes.

(Even youtubers, used all this fact to make Amino even more bad, by calling it toxic and etc, that killed amino too)

Woah! this is the first time i heard about amino sold to another enterprise. that's interesting.

Drama also makes people quit the community, it can urge to leave the community even if they're not responsible in the drama.

It happens a lot and i have to say youtubers are right about amino being toxic. I've also seen staff abusing their powers.

Anime, K-pop, Army, Undertale amino will be the only aminos that will survive the next 3 or so years. I personally don't think amino will go back to it's golden age.

If i were to retire from my leader position, I will probably leave amino as a whole lol. There's not much i can do in this app anymore now that people i know are gone. I'm sure my former staff team and friends i know also feels the same too since they barely appear in amino anymore

Yea, narvi sold Amino to other enterprise (ima go see which one is the new) that's why Amino is changing a lot.

Also, youtubers used the fact that, most leaders didn't had maturity to run a community and impose rules on it (some did, and that made some communitys grow big).

Also, i used to be a curator(for 1 year) on a big community, but then i lost interest on amino and i was removed by the leaders, 2 years after, a friend of mine, invited me to host a event of frames with him, i think that's the only thing that made me come back, i don't think Amino will ever see a light on the sky again

What the leader said plus, notifications(they are super duper important!!) and you can request Amino for a banner (you have to make it)

(Maybe you could ask for a frame event, but i don't know if they would accept)

Roger that! Looking back to our broadcast history by former leaders, they are making a lot of broadcast so I am planning to do that whenever i feature posts. (or oftenly since i don't want it to get annoying haha)

Are the steps complicated or do you have to team amino? (for banner/frame event)

Events + Clubs + Personal engagement

- events to inspire people to post and interact, make sure to participate yourself!

- clubs to help people make more friends and get inspired

- engage by commenting on blogs and walls!! feed your chats

For staff if no one is applying I recommend recruiting. To do this start by getting clubs going and in general talking with more . Over time you may find you’d think would be good on the mod team and you can ask them about it!

The author said 15 active daily, that’s enough for clubs! I started multiple clubs when I had that many active and more people ed later. The purpose of clubs isn’t to , it’s to engage your active . That said, fun content/activities in your community is something you can talk about when inviting new to . Good luck!

Thank you for the good luck. But unfortunately nowadays people aren't so interested in posting and participating in things for fun. I'm still going to try.
