Hey guys! So happy with the thoughtful discussions that have been taking place here. It’s why Leader Amino was built!

I’ve seen some confusion over the past few days regarding duplicate communities so let clear a few things up.
1. Duplicate communities were not allowed during the Beta
This was done on purpose. With a limited amount of new communities being built, we didn’t want duplicates. We wanted to ensure as broad as a spectrum of communities as possible.
2. When we open up ACM to the public, duplicate communities will be allowed
At the start, this may seem a little weird but image if only one subreddit could be created per topic? Or YouTube channel? What if the Leadership team running Naruto Amino did a poor job? Would we still want them to have the monopoly on Naruto Aminos? I don’t think so. We should give a chance for others to do a better job.
With competition, there comes strategy, just like in business. You can create a direct copy but know that the need/service is already being served. You’ve got to make your community better if you want people to leave one for yours.
You could try to differentiate your community, or do a sub-niche. Think of our Doctor Who community and the new Classic Who community. Both are for the same show but one focuses on the pre reboot seasons only.

Additional Comments
:one: Communities with similar titles and search keywords will be sorted by highest Daily Active Member count in the Explore Page search.
:two: Even if communities are the "same" - culture can never be the same. Each community has a unique culture, like a fingerprint. You may find that a certain Minecraft community is too aggressive or not aggressive enough. You may find a Hip Hop Amino that skews a little older, or one that skews a little more female.
:three: There is a difference between having your community "Listed" and it appearing in search. "Listed" communities will be prioritized in search, landing above the other communities.
Hope that clears things up!

I have 25 duplicates of my community and have others my community, copy it almost exactly, and then I've banned them because they then promote theirs in my chats, and there is more than one instance of this.
Allowing duplicates just slows it down for everyone.
I now have two duplicates of my amino (well technically three but)
Will more than one amino of the same topic get listed?
If so... That's stupid. I actually think the duplicate idea is going to be very chaotic in the long run and create "wars".
Hey Dan, if there are 2 communities with the same use, will both be listed? Two of us are working on an Atheism Amino and just realised there was another one that's been listed.
How does one combine communities?
