What if Someone Copies Your Amino?

Its a situation you’d rather not have as a small community...

Picture this, you come online one day and find someone in a public chat asking people to their amino. Most communities forbid advertising so that’s already set you off. As a small community every small member counts. It’s quite the emotional roller coaster when you gain 4 and then loose them the next day. Just watching your numbers go up and down can give you a heart attack, so you’re walking on a thin beam here.

Say, you or someone actually clicked the link and went into the community to find it was a exact replica or it is the same with very minimal changes. I use my community as an example as this exact scenario happened before. As a role play community strictly basing itself on a plot it can be copied and this was back when we had about 400 or so in the original amino where in August the Leader was hacked and banned everyone.

Just so I don’t keep going on about my own amino, let’s keep going. So they’ve copied pretty much everything, Your ideas to make your community stand out and unique, and this is really frustrating. I mean, that’s your hard work. And they wanted to on Your Amino this clone? An outrage! THIS MEANS WAR-

I’m sure there’s somewhat to solve this right? I mean, there’s probably a perfectly reasonable person behind that profile picture. All you need is the right approach. The last thing you want is a war. It could get bad. People can end up doing nasty things to each other as it escalates.

So what should you do?

Personally I find the most common emotion in this situation is ABSOLUTE RAGE. The kind of rage that makes you want to go undercover and destroy this new opponent’s amino. And undermine everything they have...! And basically going full blown “THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAA!” As you kick them and their amino down a deep hole of defeat.

Yeah, don’t do that.... There’s a much better way to go about it. Like I said, there’s most likely a human behind that screen and most people aren’t trying to do wrong here. They probably felt inspired and need a small touch of guidance to touch their face and lead them down the path a a glorious original amino! *Fits of coughing*

All you need to to dm they on your amino or on theirs if they aren’t in your community. Quickly start off with a friendly “Hello!” And introduce yourself from your community. Give a brief explanation of what appears to be going on and ask for them to get back to you when they can. I advise giving it at least a few days just to give them wiggle room. If they reply and seem like a reasonable fellow human then ask them for some changes to be made or for them to come check your Your slightly larger community that’s got the same ideas but has plenty of waiting for more people. Ask kindly for changes and if they agree, great! On your way!

If not and they ban you or start going off on you, not much you really can do. I suggest just moving on and not worrying about them. The leader can learn on their own.
