Crediting Artists

Okay, so this Amino has an ongoing issue with people using art that doesn't belong to them, and without credit.

It gets annoying when we have to constantly ask to credit the artist, because it's something you should be doing without having to be told to. Some of you comply and we appreciate that, but there are other few people who give us the

"I don't know the original artist"

"Why?"

or do it anyway but with an attitude.

So, I suggested and got an agreement that if crediting art doesn't improve, using art that isn't yours just won't be allowed altogether.

This means that if you use art that either doesn't belong to you, or isn't specifically made for you (a commission/request/art trade), you will be asked to remove it. If you don't, it will be taken down.

s will start taking action in the next three posts we see that hasn't got proper credit to the original artist(s).

How to credit artists

If you don't know who the artist(s) is of a piece you'd like to use, there are reverse search engines or you can click the link of the picture, it will usually take you to an artists DA, Tumblr, etc.

Obviously, there are more, but those are the two I recommend using. Or you can an app for it.

If you still can't find the artist, use something else you can provide credit.

You don't need to credit any art posted in chats or any art used on your profile, as long as you don't claim it.

What will happen?

If crediting artists doesn't improve, we will begin taking posts down or asking to remove art that belongs to someone else. Even if it is credited at that point.

You can use your own original art. If you aren't comfortable with your own art, try commissioning/requesting from someone. You may also use bases/expression sheets in your posts. That is the only time you may use someone else's art. But you MUST provide credit!!

My personal opinion

I don't think it's right to use an artists hard work at all. Unless it's meant to be used, like a base or an expression sheet.

I think you all should be original with your OCs, I mean, it's in the name. ORIGINAL CHARACTER. Because plenty of artists are spending hours on end on amazing works, for random people to claim it as their OC's design.

Even if you can't draw, nobody will judge you. You could at least create an original design and commission someone to draw it for you.
