Infectious Profile Report: Common Infected ("The Horde")
Classification Level: Controlled Access
Report Code: CI-L4D/CDC-9923
Date: [Redacted]
I. OVERVIEW
The Common Infected (colloquially referred to as "the Horde") are the primary vector of aggression in the Green Flu pandemic event. These individuals were previously non-immune civilians exposed to the viral pathogen designated as Strain-GF/7, or "Green Flu." Unlike the more evolved Special Infected variants, Common Infected exhibit minimal mutation but display extreme aggression, diminished pain response, and highly contagious body fluids.
II. PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BEHAVIORAL PROFILE
A. Physical Characteristics:
Retain approximate size, shape, and attire of pre-infection state
Bloodshot or glazed eyes; skin pallor; visible lesions or rashes
Increased muscular tension observed in active phase
Average gait becomes erratic or limping unless agitated
B. Behavioral Traits:
Typically ive until stimulated by sound, light, or visible Survivors
Demonstrate rapid coordination in large groups when agitated
Attack via swarming, biting, and blunt trauma
Capable of climbing, vaulting, and minor parkour maneuvers
C. Infection Vector:
Highly contagious via direct with bodily fluids (blood, saliva)
Airborne spread suspected in early infection stages; current likelihood low
III. ENVIRONMENTAL INTERACTION
Common Infected congregate in densely populated or recently disturbed urban environments. Reports confirm they are drawn to:
Loud noises (gunfire, alarms, explosions)
Bright lights and sudden movement
Prolonged presence of non-infected individuals
Their behavior resembles mob or hive-mind activity when mobilized. Despite this, they exhibit no signs of higher reasoning or memory retention.
IV. UNCOMMON INFECTED (REGIONAL VARIANTS)
Field teams have identified several regionalized variants of the Common Infected with specialized traits. These are often mistaken for Special Infected but lack the extreme mutation profile of those types.
A. Hazmat Infected (CEDA Worker)
Location: Urban quarantine zones
Protective suits make them resistant to fire-based attacks
Often found near CEDA trailers or evacuation sites
B. Riot Infected
Location: Inner-city metropolitan zones
Clad in full police riot gear; nearly impervious to bullets from the front
Vulnerable to melee or shots from the back
C. Mud Men
Location: Rural swamplands (Deep South)
Covered in mud, enabling camouflage
Sprinting attacks; smear vision when striking survivors
D. Clown Infected
Location: Amusement parks/carnival zones
Audible squeaking shoes attract additional infected
Behavior is erratic and faster-paced
E. Worker Infected
Location: Construction zones
Wearing ear protection; immune to sound-based distractions (e.g., pipe bombs)
May carry construction tools as blunt weapons
F. Fallen Survivor (Rare Variant)
Location: Urban collapse zones
Equipped with tactical gear; often drops supplies when eliminated
Attempts to flee rather than fight when spotted
V. TACTICAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Engage using silenced or low-noise weaponry when possible
Use terrain and elevation to slow or bottleneck infected approach
Avoid triggering alarms or events unless coordinated
Prioritize elimination of uncommon variants for logistical advantage
VI. CLOSING STATEMENT
While the Common Infected lack the brute strength and unique abilities of Special Infected, their numbers and responsiveness to environmental triggers render them the most. consistent threat during field operations. Proper identification and crowd-control protocols are essential to minimizing casualties and maximizing survivor extraction success.
