A Letter to Myself Example Post

This letter is directed towards my past self aka someone who used to go by a different name and a different set of pronouns. While we are the same person, my experiences now are far much better.

Your life is gonna be one hell of a bumpy ride, but you'll make the best out of it. You're gonna meet new people, graduate high school, be able to medically transition/get surgery, and do so many other amazing things that will benefit you.

You're gonna meet people in particular who will try to break you down and destroy your reputation with lies and manipulation. Don't fret, you'll be fine and you'll eventually cut them off. There are other people that you'll meet that aren't bad at all, be sure to keep em close.

Being able to finally come out and transition will make you feel as if you're on top of the world but it (transitioning) will be a difficult process to go through. You will face difficulties communicating with your family, you'll feel depressed, you will start "competing" with other trans men about who can get on testosterone and such the fastest, etc.

Please take a deep breath and learn how to focus on only yourself. You are a MAN, you shouldn't have to stress yourself out just because other people are further ahead in their journeys. You only just started your transition journey by the time this happens and you may have a while to go until you feel less dysphoric but the end result is so, so worth it.

You will cry, you will vent to your best friend, and you will look at yourself in the mirror and see sadness within your eyes. This may be a rough event to go through and you may go through two names before you find the perfect one for you but trust me, everyone is gonna call you Keith one day. Everyone is gonna accept you and there's nothing to be afraid of.

You're gonna start homeschool your senior year and graduate with all A's, something you didn't know that could happen within your future. You're gonna be able to graduate and see the name "Keith" on your diploma. Being able to finally achieve these goals will make you extremely excited and you should be proud of yourself.
