My summer started with some fun park adventure. For those of you who don't know: I'm a teacher. My class and I went to an amusement park in the last week before the summer holidays, just to finish off the school year with a nice experience for everyone.

This was a lot to organise, and it consumed all of my attention, time and focus for over a week. Everything had to be ready afterwards AND beforehand, letters that you send to parents NEVER find their way back to you with the expected signatures, and someone always has a last-minute bathroom disaster before you get on the bus. The usual. We made it, though.

This park is called "Moviepark ", and it's basically divided into two main areas. One for younger children, full of nickelodeon content, and one for teens & adults. We spent a great day there and due to another thing, this was the last day I got to spent with my class. I'm still glad we all made it out without any major injuries and dramatic situations..

Now, onto the part of my summer that caused my (still ongoing) massive hiatus- I got my back fixed in hospital. The day after the movie park. Yay me..

I'll spare you the unpleasant details, but for those that are interested : I had a spinal surgery. I've had issues with my back since my early childhood, but over the last 3-4 years, it went downhill. At some point during the last 6 months, it started putting pressure on my vertebraes and nerve system. Basically, it was threatening to paralyse me, I was in a lot of pain every day and some days were so bad that I had trouble getting out of bed due to the lack of moving ability. Something had to be done.

So, my spine was corrected and I've spent about a week at the hospital. (Yes, I expected it to be longer, too-) It was the most boring week ever. Sure, I was also in pain, but I couldn't really do much to distract myself from it, either.

After returning home and learning how to keep my balance again, I came down with a rather big infection around my stitches, so right back in I went. My past couple of weeks have been full of doctor and hospital visits, antibiotics and adjustments. As I am writing this, I'm 45 days post-op and still not fully healed. It bothers me way more than I could describe, but I'm very thankful for being able to gain this part of life-quality back.

I haven't been able to do much, or go places, since I've been home. I still need my bandages changed daily, it's a lot of effort and longer periods of sitting, standing or laying down result into discomfort, so I try to keep a somewhat relaxing rotation between these.. 🥲 :sweat_smile:
