Hello! This is my Curator Application for the Jan 2025 Applications!

⇝ 5+ years but I’ve been on this for almost a year!
► Hi! I’m non-binary and intersex! I’ve been in and out of this community since I was 13! I like things like writing and editing! I wanna be in the entertainment industry one day! One of my strengths is being able to find unbiased research, and I think my biggest flaw or downside is that I have a hard time with proper empathy.
► I’ve always wanted to help out in anyways I can! I’ve been here for a while and love the team, great people. They’re all so helpful and I would love to give back in any way I can! Amino has helped me connect to people in ways I couldn’t before! I want to help out more as a thank you to Amino! I think one of the best skills I can offer is unbiased mediation! I’m good at drowning any feelings so I can be a good mediator, even if a person I’m friends with is involved.
► I used to be a leader of an Animo but I put the project on paused due to lack of staffing!
► I think I got a strike earlier last year due to a misunderstanding but I got it resolved ASAP!
Scenarios
1. You are the only one online. There has been a small swarm of trolls that have just entered the community. One is spamming the feed and the other spamming chats with innapropriate content. What is your course of action?
I would do my best to disable posts and hide profiles! I would also make sure to any chat staff and leaders to make sure we could get the issue resolved.
2. You have disabled a post for being considered as spam. They are not happy and are starting to harass you and call you names. How do you handle the situation?
I would explain to them why I did so and give them tips on how to keep their posts relevant and how to make sure their posts meet requirements! If they still argue after, I’ll just step back and tell them if they are really upset they can a leader.
3. You are moderating a chat/post, and you see an altercation between 2 or more . What's your course of action?
I would do my best to mediate the situation. If needed, I’ll get a host/co-host to step in or if it’s on a post, I’ll ask a leader or another curator about a proper course of action.
4. A member is asking for your help with a situation in their PMs about someone asking innapropriate things. They have evidence to their claim. What do you do?
Once I receive evidence, I’ll immediately hide the profile and inform a leader, maybe multiple, to make sure the person who is harassing others can be attended to ASAP. I would then suggest that, if they haven’t already, that the person who sent me the evidence block the individual and I will let them know I will inform them when the next course of action takes place. I will also provide any if needed.
5. What would you do if you had a fight with another curator?
I would step back and come back when we’re both more calm. I would try to mediate to see if we can sort things out. If things continue to be heated, I will ask a leader to help mediate. If we still can’t be civil, I will just do my best to limit so we’re only talking to each other on a work basis. If things really, seriously got out of hand, I would resign from curator to avoid conflict.
6. What would you do if you had a fight with a leader?
About the same as I would with a curator. I would give space, try and sort things out and if needed I’ll just limit interaction with them. If needed, I’ll also resign to avoid a leader feeling uncomfortable.
7. What would you do if a member has been posting about sensitive, triggering topics?
I would disable media and tell them why. If it was concerning, I would give them the resources we have to help but I will also inform them that I am not a professional, and they should seek professional advice if they are genuinely feeling this way.
8. You get a report about member of staff abusing their power. How would you approach this situation?
If I had concrete evidence, I would inform a leader if it was a curator, telling them what I’ve been told and give them any evidence I had. If it was a leader, I would ask them about it, and if it wasn’t going anywhere, I would most likely a Team Amino Agent so we can keep our community safe.
9. You see a chat/post with people saying negative things about staff/a certain staff member, do you do?
Disable media immediately and give the person a warning and a reminder of our guidelines, specifically on the section about bullying and harassment. I will also inform a leader to decided what the best course of action would/should be.
10. You see a curator leaking sensitive information to a member. What do you do?
Report to a leader with a screenshot because I feel like this falls under “Power abuse”. We wanna make sure this community stays safe!
