dear five year old me

This is sort of like dear parents challenge thingy. I wrote this one day after the realization how far I’ve come and it’s just the beginning of a hard journey of becoming myself. I wrote this from my heart. This is vary personal for me.

I don’t come for criticism I come to show others that it’s okay to be different, be proud to be who you are! Hold your head up high.

Dear five year old me

This is just the beginning. You feel alone but it’ll be okay. You’re going to grow up and go through harder things. When people come and bully you, hold your head up high with pride and stand your ground. Don’t let the person who you are get you down. Don’t be your worst critic.

You will learn that your body doesn’t work for you. You will be sad and feel even more alone. Your family won’t understand or know about how bad you really feel. But keep your head up.

There will be a day when you are told you may not succeed due to your disabilities. Anxiety and stress will be overwhelming to the point you feel like you can’t move. Don’t let that stop you. You are a smart, brave, strong kid. You can do anything you want. Just don’t give in.

When you get older you’re going to be angry. A lot. Be calm and patient with others. Especially dad. Tell him you love him even when you feel like you don’t. He’s not staying forever.

Little five year old me, stand your ground like a mangrove tree in the eye of the hurricane. Be the stubborn, kindhearted kid you are. Love and respect everyone but also don’t be scared to be yourself. I love you.
