History

Current situation

The age of consent in russia is still 16 and has been that way since 2003, regardless of your sexual orientation.

Transgender and transexuals can change their legal gender since 1997.

In 1999, being homosexual was taken of the mental health list.

Adoption is allowed regardless of sexual orietation and regarless whether you live in a foreign country or not, provided that the country doesnt recognise or realise you live in a same sex marriage.

Restrictive legislation in Russia

Russia amended in fedrall law under chrildrens protection unit that ilegalises the advitisment of 'non traditional sexual relationships' and marriages against a minor and will be punished if they do so. This includes children apart of a lgbt family.

'Non traditional marriage' in Russia

Neither same sex marriages nor civil unions such as 'non traditional marriages' are allowed in russia.

[C] Patriarch kirill also known as the leader of the orthodox church stated that even the idea of same sex marrages can be very dangerous as that could be a sign of an apocalypse.

There were many atempts of people getting married in moscow and some other places but sadly failed. The constitution stated that marriage in russia is only between a man and a woman. 'untradional marriages' such as same sex, cannot be contracted in Russia.

Unfortunately the majority of community's in russia are agaisnt the idea of same sex marrages, infact this year on july, russian voters aproved of the constitution, banning same sex marriages.

Gay pride events

As of now there has been continual rejections of gay pride parades, most often in moscow where the authorities have always had rejected pide parades, including the mayor who surported the citys refusal.

In 2010, the human rights movment fined russia for their acts against lgbt citizens. Alexeyev alleged that russia was descriminating lgbt citizens.

Anti gay purges.

A part of Russian federation have included forced disappearances, secret abductions, imprisonment and even torture. Authorities have been alleged that their are targeting people based on their sexual orientation.

Unknown numbers of men had been said to be detained for having the suspicion of being bisexual and gay and had been reported to have died after being held in what eyewitnesses and people apart of the human rights group called a concentration camp.

Russian and international activists have scrambled to evacuate the survivers of the camp but stuggled to get visas to conduct a safer place beyond Russia.
