In my situation, it’s both religion and family. Most of my family is completely unive of the LGBTQ+ community and they are all christians, plus they use religion to bash and hate on the community. As a christian too, it makes me feel terrible when I see them use religion to hate on others

my familya and friends are christian, but it's more anxiety reasons for me. my sibling (who's christian im pretty sure but is vv accepting and lgbt herself) would never judge me and would respect me for coming out. i've even come out as nonbinary to her before and it went great. but my anxiety tells me she'll hate me for being trans masc bc she makes jokes ab how much she hates men. im still gonna come out to her but sometimes im really scared too. (same with my lgbt cousin who i haven't seen in years, could never 2ork up the courage to come out to her.)

I was raised in a Christian family, had Christian friends, and I go to a Christian school. Almost every non lgbt person I know is homophobic/transphobic, and a friend of mine is bullied. As Christians, even if you don’t agree with something, we still shouldn’t make it an unsafe space... I really hate it.

Although there are a lot of variables for everyone, there are some pointers worth adding, like a fear of being a disappointment to and/or rejected by certain persons or everybody.
