Hello there friends! Cidney here, back at it again with another post! This time, I’m here to cover a few characters from video games that are part of the LGBT+ community.

Being a part of the community myself, it always makes me extremely happy to see video game creators incorporate characters into their games that are part of the community!

Today I will be covering a few NPCs as well as people that you can play as that are LGBT+. I hope you enjoy!

[C]Hello there friends! Cidney

Isabelle is part of the Animal Crossing game series! This series is produced by Nintendo and first came out in Japan for the GameCube. In this game, you live in a town that you can customize and interact with animal villagers in the town.

Isabelle was first introduced in the 2013 release of the game: Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Instead of being just a normal resident, in this version of the game, you get to become the mayor of your own town, and Isabelle is your secretary.

In the game, you can either create a male or female character. You can wear dresses as either gender, name yourself whatever you would like, style your hair, and much more! Isabelle has a crush on the character no matter what gender they are in the game, which makes it really cool. This would mean she would probably be either bisexual or pansexual. All throughout the game, she’ll show this by sometimes getting flustered, giving the player gifts on holidays, and much more.

Rating:

I would recommend this game to anyone! It’s a game for all ages, and I’ve spent countless hours playing it.

[C]Hello there friends! Cidney

The following information contains spoilers about the game. If you do not wish to read it, please scroll down to the next character.

In Doki Doki Literature Club, you play as a male protagonist trying to win over the hearts of these young teenage girls in your literature club. It’s a dating sim, with a very dark twist!

Throughout the game, you write poems and share them with other . Depending on which words you choose, you might impress one of the three girls.

There’s Sayori, who is your neighborhood best friend, Natsuki, who is a Tsundere in love with sports and manga, and Yuri, who is shy but has a slight dark side. All of the club events are overseen by the club president Monika.

While I don’t know if it’s canon, I would say that she is pansexual. This is because of events that happen at the end of the game. DDLC is a horror game, but it deceives the player by posing as a harmless dating simulator. In the “game”, Monika knows that she’s in a game, and by the end she ends up eliminating the other girls in order to end up with the player. She in a sense controls the game (think of Flowey from Undertale).

At the end when it’s just the player and Monika, she says something along the lines of: “I never asked if you were boy or a girl... but it doesn’t matter because now I’m with you.” Because the game is designed to make it seem like Monika is actually interacting with the player behind the screen, it could be inferred that she is pansexual, since she doesn’t care about the gender of the person playing.

she’s psychotic tho so I’m not sure whether or not my argument is valid.

Rating:

I would probably rate this game 15+. I give it this rating because of its mature and horror themes. If you are someone that deals with anxiety or depression, or is easily triggered by those subjects, then this game is definitely not for you.

In the game Life is Strange, you play as Max (left) and go through her life as an 18-year-old photography student, who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at will. In this game, your choices matter, and you get to see the butterfly effect unfold as you make choices and rewind time at will.

At one point in the game, Max has the option to kiss a female character. It is unknown what her actual sexuality is, and there’s been quite the debate about it online. However, my headcanon is that she’s bisexual or at least bicurious.

While I haven’t seen much play of it myself, I think it’s a really cool game. I would recommend it for kids 15+ due to some of the events that happen in the game. However, the rating for the game in the U.S. is “Mature” so take that as you will.

Other games with LGBT+ characters:

~Dream Daddy (player and suitors)

~Fire Emblem series

~The Sims 4 (Sims can date whoever they please)

~Assassin’s Creed

~Super Mario Series

. . . and many more! . . .

Sooooo, in conclusion, there are a lot of cool video games out there that feature LGBT+ characters! These were just a few of the characters that I’m fond of, but there are a LOT more out there to be created and discovered.

Comment down below some more characters you like that are a part of the community, and I’ll cover them more in depth in a part two later!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you all enjoyed. I’ll see you all next time!

The problem I have with this list is that you have the choice to make the character's sexuality. With animal crossing, Isabelle falls in love no matter what, but you have the choice to choose your gender in the game (I assume), or the person she loves is just the player, which would mean that she would never know.

With Life is Strange, Max could either be Bi, straight if you choose a guy, or gay if you choose a girl. It's up to how the player chooses to interpret it.

Technically in Doki Doki all of the girls could be bi/pan because they all have crushes on you in the game

I'm pretty sure that you are to assume that the player character is male, and since they love the player's character rather than the player, they are most likely straight.

Tracer and Soldier: 76 from OverWatch are canonically gay
