Monster High Challenge Entry

This is my entry for the Monster High Create Your Own Student Challenge. I was obsessed with the characters growing up and it is still one of my comfort shows. I hope you enjoy reading and let me know in the comments what you think!

Serenity Tides is 5'3, they have white, wavey hair that reaches down to their waist. She has freckled cheeks and a scar down her left eye from a pirate attack. When she is on land her clothes are a blue tank top with shiny scales along the bottom, a long white skirt and black sandals. But when Serenity is in water their legs transform into a beautiful blue and silver merperson tail.

Serenity loves learning new things, they are very interested in studying about sea creatures and marine plants. Everytime her family caused a shipwreck she would collect as many books and trinkets that she could find so that she could study them. This lead to them sneaking on board ships so they could read books while above water and away from other merfolk.

Because Serenity is a Siren she has to practice singing all the time, but never uses her Siren Song to hurt others. They hated that the purpose of their beautiful voice was to lure sailors under the sea, so she left her family and came to Monster High. She has trained herself to have the most enchanting singing voice ever and can still use their Siren Song to hypnotise bad people if they are doing something wrong.

When Serenity first started going to school at Monster High they were very shy and scared to talk to others, but everyone was super welcoming. She became close friends with Draculaura and Frankie Stein. After she made more friends and was settled into school life she told everyone about her gender and sexuality: they identify as a Demi-girl who uses she/they pronouns and their sexual orientation is lesbian. Later on she also reveals that she has a crush on Clawdeen Wolf.

Everyone accepted Serenity for who they are and were happy they felt comfortable coming out. Serenity started being more open and vocal about her identify and the need for more lgbt+ awareness at Monster High. She became the group organiser for an lgbt+ club for all students who wanted to participate.

I used the website Pickcrew.me to create the art of my Monster High student. It is a super easy and fun way to make character art. My inspiration was that I have always been fascinated by merfolk and ocean mythology. I also loved the show growing up and think a merperson (specifically a Siren) would make a great addition to the show.
