My Top Surgery Recovery Process

As some of you may know, I had top surgery back in May and it's been quite a while since then! My nipples and scars have healed quite nicely! I'm really thankful for how positive the on my initial top surgery post was! Today I want to go over the recovery process, what I used for my scars, what my chest looks like currently, etc.

The recovery process

For a couple of weeks I had to wear a compression vest and then after I got the okay to stop using the vest, I started using a wrap. I was very sore the entire end of May/to mid June. It was so uncomfortable going to sleep with a compression vest but luckily it only lasts for a little while. For the first week or so I was barley getting out of bed and I mainly tried to sleep and eat. You will NOT want to stretch your arms and such very high because you will honestly stretch out your scars and potentially hurt yourself. Trust me, it's gonna feel extremely uncomfortable/maybe even hurt.

I saw my surgeon every week for about almost a month, after my surgery I saw my surgeon the day afterwards to get my drains out. Getting your drains taken out feels very odd but it's not painful. I got new bandages put on weekly and it hurt when my nurse had to rip the old bandages off lol.

When you're out and about walking around, even if you're in your own house, HOLD A PILLOW AGAINST YOUR CHEST! If you bump into something or someone, it's gonna hurt you big time. While I was recovering I would bring a pillow everywhere and held it in between the seat belt and my chest while I would be in the car.

What I used for scars/my nipples

After maybe 3 weeks I felt completely normal BUT my right nipple had a tiny hole in it (and it's gone now, don't worry). I used a gauze pad, paper tape, and ointment when treating the wound. It slowly closed up and now you can't even tell there was a hole there!

While I was treating my nipple, I would use silicone strips for my scars and I would switch them out for vitamin e oil every day. So one day I wear the strips then the next day I put the oil one.

What my chest looks like

Unfortunately there's an amino rule that forbids literally anyone showing their nipples lol but I have my uncensored results on my Instagram/in my gallery if you wanna see. As you can probably tell, my scars aren't that red anymore :) the second pic is from July! First pic is from today.

Honestly I didn't even feel much pain on a scale from 1-10 it was a 1 to 2.
