The setting for this play is in New York City in 1990, Where the main character Jon, an aspiring composer, is concerned about his career path in the performing arts.
His 30th birthday is soon and Jon looks back on his life and feels unaccomplished for his age.
The musical follows his life as he works on a new play and he encounters obstacles along the way.
This musical is actually a semi-biography about the author, Jonathan Larson!

Jonathan David Larson was born on February 4th 1960 in New York. He always had a ion for music, getting a lot of inspiration from Elton John, Billy Joel, The Who and The Doors.
Ever since he was in high school, the composer was acting and took part in performing arts.
Tick tick boom was finished in 1991 and he considers it to be a "rock monologue". He composed the whole play and the music!
The premiere of the show was on May 23rd, 2001 at the Jane Street Theater in Manhattan.
