＊Tips for Beginners in Animal Crossing (New Horizons)＊

Hey, how are you doing? Hopefully alright, and if not, I hope the pain eases soon. I recently got "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" and I've been obsessed! It's an adorable game. However, I knew nothing about the world of Animal Crossing walking into the game. Luckily, I had some friends who shared a million tips with me! So I thought I'd share some tips for other people stepping into the world of Animal Crossing.

『Don't Break Rocks』

Hitting rocks with a shovel can supply you with all sorts of materials. Stones, clay, iron, and even money on occasion! You end up using a lot of these materials in crafting. However we have a limited number or rocks, so it's important to not break them (especially right away)!

『Uses of Fruit』

Those things that grow on trees! They're pretty amazing! And there are lots of things you can do with them. The first thing that may come to mind is selling the fruit. And although, yes, you can definitely do that (I do it all the time), it's also important to keep some fruit on you for its other purposes. For example, you can craft with fruit. Moreover, fruit can help you customize your island. When you eat fruit, you can dig up and relocate trees. You can even plant fruit and make more fruit bearing trees if you'd like!

『Money Trees』

Fruit isn't the only thing you can plant my friend! If you ever see a glowing in the ground, be sure to dig it up, because it contains money. Furthermore, if you take out some money and plant it in the magical glowing hole, it'll grow a money tree. It's like investing!

『Axes』

Once you get far enough to get DIY recipes besides the flimsy tools, you will notice two different kinds of axes. They have different purposes, so be careful how you use them! The stone axe can be used to collect wood from the trees. The iron axe will cut the trees down.

『Fish Bait』

If you're looking for some new fishy friends, one method you can use is spreading fish bait in the water. This is something you craft yourself. To do it, you'll need a special type of clam. To find these clams, look for squirts of water coming from the sand (on the beach) and dig.

『Floating Presents』

If you're anything like me, you'll wonder what the heck the slingshot is for. Right away you might not need it, but soon enough you'll find presents in the sky tied to a balloon. The slingshot can be used to pop the balloon for the gift. The color of the balloon will indicate what type of item is inside. However, do not pop it over any water! It'll fall in and you'll lose your gift.

『Medicine』

The only non-relaxing part of this game is getting attacked by a swarm of angry bees, or some other nasty creature (tarantulas). You can get stung/attacked once, but the second time will cause you to faint. However, taking medicine will prevent this. You can buy medicine from Timmy and Tommy. Personally, I recommend buying the medicine in bulk. I've gone through my fair share of it.

『Nook Mile Spending』

Although there are tons of things you can spend your nook miles on, there are some that you definitely need to prioritize. The pocket organization guide, ultimate pocket stuffing, and the topline ring are super helpful.

『Star Wand』

In this game, magical things really happen when you wish upon a star. At a certain point, you will meet Blathers' sister. She will teach you how to wish on shooting stars. Do this a bunch that first night, so you can collect all the materials for a star wand. You will then be able to use a wardrobe to create wand outfits, so you can switch between clothes super easily!
