                ┊i wanted time ask everyone

                 ┊which group they think gets

┊the least rep in the community.

                ┊this goes for, shows, movies

                 ┊and even merchandise. i think

┊there was a whole issue with

┊the lesbian flag not being included

┊in a lot of pride parades if I

                 ┊. But anyway, think

                 ┊you get what I mean.

Okay! Now I left out gay men because

they are in my opinion well known for

being apart of the community and a lot

of movies and tv shows have them in it.

So I figured I didn’t need to add them, but

that’s just for this poll. And mainly because

I wanted to add asexuals because they don’t

get a lot of rep. Now really, all these groups

of the community should get way more

media coverage. But for now I wanted to ask!

But representation isn’t necessarily good. In many movies e.g. gay characters are extremely stereotypical. And that probably is even worse than no representation.

And don’t get me wrong. There are good representations too.

Oh yeah, a lot of times the gay rep really isn’t the best. It does depend on what people consider rep.

I feel like a lot of people think that bi peeps don't get a lot of rep but I think that may be due simply to the fact that a lot of movie or TV characters might not appear bi becuase they never date in shows and also it is rare in movies or TV shows where lgbt representation exists to hear about peoples ex's or past loves Becuase it just doesn't fit with a lot of plot lines so when people see a guy dating another guy in TV they just assume he's gay. But there are a lot of bi characters in TV shows I think once you did deeper. Think Brittany S Peirce , magnus bane a lot of people may not know they will are bi... Idk (sorry this was super long and kinda contreversial)

im not gonna say that bi people don't get any representation at all, but i literally cannot come up with a single bi character

all the "bi" characters always either turn gay or straight or are just confused or their bisexuality is never actually shown, they just date one gender and then go 'im bi' (and yes i know preference is possible but c'mon)

I feel it depends on what type of representation. Because if dig enough you can find stuff, but whether or not its actually portrayed well is another thing. Personal I think out the ones listed lesbians and bisexuals have had the most. Though agian there's the part of whether or not it was/is good. Trans people are beginning to get the more in of main stream I feel. But it's still very eh and the past is highly problematic especially for trans women. (Definitely checked out the doc Disclosure). Nonbinary and asexuals are just recently getting representation I feel, so they have some of the smallest. But from the stuff I've seen personally it's done fairly well. So again it depends on how you view the representation. Just because theres more of one thing does not necessarily mean that it is done well.

sorry for the long comment

Definitely agree and appreciate the long comment!

It really does depend on what people would consider rep. Whether it’s amount or actual well known good rep. It really can vary.

And I’ll definitely have to check out the Doc Disclosure!

Haha welcome I guess.

Exactly. But at the same time I feel we do need the bad ones. It gives examples of what not to do. And that in turn can help with positive representation.

Awesome. It's on Netflix.
