There's been many, many, MANY people on social media stating you DON'T need gender dysphoria in order to be trans so I'm here to state otherwise. Feel free to harass me in the comments but you're gonna show your true colors fyi.
I'm a trans guy and honestly it's extremely frustrating dealing with people who think you don't need gender dysphoria in order to be trans. The only defense argument that I've really seen is gender dysphoria = hating yourself and not many trans people feel like they hate themselves. That is 100% false.
There are WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) guidelines that exist and it basically goes over having letters for surgery and hormones, needing a therapist/doctor to recommend surgery, all that kind of stuff. The link will be here: https://www.wpath.org
I had to get a letter from my therapist for hormones and top surgery basically stating I have gender dysphoria and that I should continue my transition. Both my endocrinologist and surgeon reviewed the letters and we continued from there. The letters are basically "proof" that I suffer from a mental illness and transitioning would help provide some relief.
This article goes into what gender dysphoria is: https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/gender-dysphoria/what-is-gender-dysphoria
Brief article about brain scans w/ transgender people: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/05/180524112351.htm
Gender dysphoria isn't about hating yourself, it's about feeling a disconnection between your sex and gender. It's not curable but there are ways to help it, like medically and socially transitioning. Transgender people who've had brain scans show similar brain characteristics to the gender they're transitioning to (like a ftm person having some similar brain characteristics when compared to a cis male).

Study about how early people experience gender dysphoria: https://www.cedars-sinai.org/newsroom/most-gender-dysphoria-established-by-age-7-study-finds/
Do you notice how all of these links I've provided talk about gender dysphoria? It's because doctors/surgeons/therapists the idea of gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria and all of the research done upon trans people is literal proof that we have an actual real condition, we aren't making stuff up.
Although gender dysphoria can be different for everyone, it still exists and it's a requirement of being trans. Why would you transition if you don't feel uncomfortable with your body, pronouns, literally anything?
Here's another study that is about medical intervention regarding gender dysphoria: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5580378/
It just goes to show if you have gender dysphoria and transition you will feel much happier. If you DON'T have gender dysphoria and transition, you will make your life a living hell. Here's a link to a FTM detransitioner if you want to hear about their story: https://youtu.be/n0pVuZ0CT7Q
If you think you're trans please go to a regular therapist, not a gender therapist. A gender therapist will throw you to an endocrinologist within the first 30 seconds of meeting you, which is obviously bad. Some people think they're trans just because they hate being a man/woman due to trauma they've experienced. Doesn't necessarily have to be about trauma either, you could easily say you hate being a woman just because you hate your monthly cycle.
Thanks for reading.

I don’t think you need body dysphoria just a general discomfort to an extent by being called ur assigned gender. in all honesty I avoid this topic in general because i don’t know how much dysphoria every trans person experiences or how they experience it and it’s none of my business what ppl do as long as they are not harming themselves or others.
So it's a bit weird for me since I'm Bigender. I do correspond to both genders (mostly male). My dysphoria is caused by the way I'm treated and the way I see myself. It's a bit wierd because I have bottom dysphoria but not top. I don't mind my chest since I can hide it most of the time with hoodies. So help me out here. I really dislike it when people say "you're a girl" to me. Doesn't matter the context, I just hate being labeled as one gender that I don't relate too. Does that make me dysphoric?
Honestly I don't wanna tell you yes or no because I feel like it's not really my place, I recommend therapy though. The reason why I don't think it's my place is because dysphoria can be easily confused with dysmorphia, some people hate being labeled as their gender assigned at birth but it's due to trauma, etc. Dysphoria can be a complex issue and I wouldn't want to "diagnose" you

If i could go to therapy I would, but my parents don't ....
Thank you for saying this. Non-binary dysphoria is weird, it’s not as clear cut as binary trans dysphoria, and it can change day to day, but it’s still dysphoria. Mine personally isn’t that bad, but I still have it (mostly chest, height, and voice dysphoria)
I can’t imagine why anyone would transition without dysphoria, but whatever
I just wanna say something. There’s times when people might feel something and believing it’s dysphoria after a traumatic experience which could lead people into believing they’re trans and this is an actual thing people do to cope. I don’t know much about it, but it’s something that happens among people when coping with things.
Hope it makes some sense
Yeah, definitely recommend therapy before anyone actually transitions

I didn’t read the post much but I saw the bottom part where you mentioned that so I hope my comment wasn’t too much of a bother
I stan! People keep calling me a gatekeeper or the gender police, but what other motivation would you have to be trans. Being trans is very stressful and not fun, putting hormones in your body and surgery's isn't fun. So why would you wanna put yourself through that, I needed hormones bc I was at the edge of doing something horrible. I needed it to live my life how I was meant to.
