A 2022 meme retrospective part 1

I have never thought I would find myself posting as often in an amino as I have here. To give perspective, as of before this post got ed, I have 157 posts here and in an amino I used to be a curator in, I have 70 posts done. Less than half of the posts here, and the majority of the posts here came out this year, and of the ones that came this year, most were memes, so I'm going to go through the memes that defined this year and memes I particularly enjoyed making. Without further ado, let's get started.

You would think my first meme this year would be my first Nijigasaki season 2 meme. I actually thought that too, but nope! This is it! Honestly not my best meme out there, but it's still the first one of the year. This does highlight a regret I have though. Not participating further in this showdown, but as Yuu all know, Ai get a big comeback later.

This is the meme that we all thought started this year I'd imagine. Love Live Nijigasaki season 2 starting near the Emmy's I believe (forgot if it was Emmy's or Oscar's) was perfect given what happened in episode 1. Back in the day, I would say these kind of things in chats, but NO! I realized that if it's a meme, more often than not, it should be posted! And thus my post activity started to increase, but as we all know, this is just the beginning!

I decided to show the linked wikis here to showcase what this meme represents. The start of The Tsundere Fang Saga. One of my long running jokes in this series with the premise of Lanzhu is a tsundere without a fang, but Shioriko does have one?! So weird, but hey it provided me many meme opportunities and a fanfic opportunity.

I swear I won't show every meme! It's just happening the first memes have had impact in some way. This meme is one of two that showcases a part of why I think Lanzhu was an amazing antagonist. Back when this meme first came out, it was called Lanzhu in a nutshell. I knew it wouldn't age well, but it made sense for that to be the title, but hey at least Lanzhu doesn't become a complete joke later.

And yet the very next meme gets in this. Worst part is the next two memes will pop be here too. I guess this goes to show how much I love Nijigasaki season 2. Up until this meme came up, I honestly thought all of my Nijigasaki season 2 memes will involve Lanzhu. I was proven wrong with Shioriko looking like Mayushi.

If Love Live Characters Were Snapcube Sonic fandub characters

This is technically not a meme in its fullest sense, but I would be a fool to not include a post that is one of the stepping stones for starting my favorite meme type to do here. The disembodied quotes meme. This is where it all started.

The second meme that shows what I love about Lanzhu as an antagonist. Yes, I made a joke about it, but the big thing is that Lanzhu's change happened without her becoming a joke and Lanzhu's personality is still consistent!

So much began with this one meme. The Ai puns, the team Niji posts, and a long chain of almost daily memes. Ai am so glad Ai ended up doing this meme. Ai can't believe Ai almost didn't do it.

While the last meme was the first of my team Niji posts, this meme solidified a fact. The fact Ai was a proud member of team Niji and was taking NO PRISONERS! The Niji chat was also where Ai started my morning messages.

Disembodied quotes are my favorite memes to do here, and this was the first one. I will go through all of them for this, and pick my favorite quote and/or the quote that defines the progress from the meme for each one. Being my first, this one is also my weakest, but this laid the foundation for just how wacky these get later, and the quote I picked shows that the best.

Sonic Adventure 2 hero story is the most underrated of the Sonic Snapcube fandubs. It has quite a few amazing parts. The casting choice for the fandubs were very predetermined which both helped and hurt these. It helped because I could focus more on which quotes I used. Hurt because it really limited me for the Shadow the Hedgehog fandub later. As for this quote, it implies Setsuna and Kasumi had a thing, Kasumi was able to move on first, and Kasumi for the first time was the first to get serious.

Did you really think I wasn't going to pick this one for the Snapcube Sonic Adventure 2 dark and final story fandub? This one is from the funniest part of the fandub and it showcases the justification of my casting choices. Mia curses and Ai is also shipped with Rina. Yeah there are no curse word in this one, but watch the full speech. I couldn't do the full speech for obvious reasons.

I honestly had a really hard time choosing a quote for this one, the first one that was more than one part and that is without me having the quotes show the story. Imagine if I "modernized" this one. What narrowed my quote choice down was that I wanted to show that if Ai was Shadow, then Mari had to be Memphis Tennessee (Mephiles).

This meme was the last of the Nijigasaki season 2 memes, and was definitely one of the things that meant I was taking no prisoners in the showdown. It also aged surprisingly well on my end as my feelings on Love Live Superstar season 2 are no secret.

I didn't have a lot of Emma as Amy quotes in these which makes me happy I was able to do this one. Sonic Riders is my least favorite of the Snapcube Sonic fandubs, and I think it shows in this meme. Thankfully I still have some fun quotes here.

I miss Love Live Nijigasaki. I miss it a lot. Nothing more to say here.

Team Niji could only last as long as the showdown, so of course it died, but from the ashes came the Ai cult. Where the puns reign forever! Yuu too could and have cookies! (Shameless plugin)

I didn't think rewatches will give me memes to make. Thankfully this meme proved me wrong, and more memes from rewatches will be coming. Just got a few more things I really want to watch before I buckle down on this particular project.

While the Tsundere Fang Saga is the only one with a full story, it is far from the only saga. This post started Chisato's Maru Cult Saga. I want to do a story on it eventually, but I have no idea what to do so far.

Call me in denial, but I stand by this. Keke is the main protagonist.

If I were to go through this entire retrospective without bringing up the Neso Invasion, then I would be the biggest idiot on the amino. This is my most played joke here, and the story will be coming sometime next year! (Another shameless plugin)

The Tsundere Fang Heist

Not really a meme, but it is the culmination of the Tsundere Fang Saga. It's also so crazy that Takasaki had to ask how high I was when I wrote it. Plot twist: I was not high at all.

The disembodied quotes meme for An Incorrect Summary of Devil May Cry 5. This one is the first of my "modern" disembodied quotes memes where I show the funny quotes and try to string together the story, so I can do more funny quotes. In my personal opinion, this is also my weakest of the "modern" ones. Looking at it now, it's clear I cut corners that I would not cut on the ones in the future. Fun fact, the original song I used for this quote was Yuu and Ai, but I ended up feeling that Diabolic Mulier fits Ai as Vergil better.

Ok I am cheating a bit for Sonic 1. That is because for this meme, the part I enjoyed the most was how the last quote for part 1 and the first quote of part 2 really tied together. This isn't something that happens again. At least not at this level.

I am so proud of how the Sonic 2 movie disembodied quotes turned out that I had a hard time choosing just one quote. Fun fact: My choice for Sonic Movie Shadow was between Yohane and Ai. Yohane had the advantage of being connected to Dia and Ruby along with her being a fallen angel, but three things got Ai to barely win. Dia can just as easily dread Ai's puns, it gives continuity to how Ai is Shadow in the fandubs, and Ai can also mean artificial intelligence, so Project Ai had an extra oomph to it. Whether or not this was a good choice will become clear when Sonic 3 comes out. This quote was also chosen because it bridges all that came before with it and what will come after it and it also shows the creative freedom I have started to be willing to take with these disembodied quotes.

So apparently 25 is the max amount of pictures that can be posted which is funny because I legit only have 5 more memes to cover, so a short part 2 will be coming hopefully tomorrow, but for now
