Last Friday I wasn't really in the mood to Mootivate... well, anyone. Because I was feeling down. Why?

Well... because of these particular lyrics:

Everyday, it's so frustrating, it's driving me crazy

Feel like it's still day one, somebody turn back the clock

The entire year got stolen

The reality of this last verse "the entire year got stolen" really hit me. It wasn't even the sadness because of the trips I had to cancel or sadness because I can't have salsa classes right now. I was waaay past that. It was sadness because of stolen opportunities, stolen chances of simply meeting new people, making new friends, making memories with all those possible newcomers.

All of us were robbed for something like that. And this year is the time that we'll never be able to get back.

This thinking really messed me up last Friday. So, to kind of put my mind at ease, I watched "Sky Castle" - I was on the last 5 episodes.

If you watched "Sky Castle", you know how much drama there is with each episode. If you didn't watch, I highly recommend. Mind you, I was near the end of the drama, so many characters were experiencing all sorts of trauma. One of the characters was arguing with his mother and suddenly yelled:

I'm almost 50 years old, but I don't know who I am. I feel like an empty shell.

This character didn't know what he truly likes, what is his taste, his true opinion. For his entire life he was fulfilling other people's expectations, other's wishes to the point where he didn't develop his own.

As soon as he yelled that, I thought "Luckily, I don't have that problem". And that's when it hit me - if you know who you are and what you want, you're on the right path. It's not a good thing that we have stolen year, but imagine reaching your 50s and to still not be able to think on your own? That's not just one year, that's a lifetime.

Now, it's completely fine if you're still figuring out your identity. It's fine if you change your opinions and if some of your convictions are different than in the past. That, my dear MooMoos, is a sign that you're still developing your beautiful self.

Looking back at this year, was it all bad? Not really. I started learning Korean, parted ways with some toxic people, learned some new stuff. This year is a challenge, but at least we're all having personal growth. So, when this whole thing is done, I hope we all meet those new people we were supposed to become friends with. Even though we'll never be able to turn back time and get what's rightfully ours, I hope we come out of this ready to be in charge of our happiness.
