Bot PSA

Hello Marvel fans.

As of now we are receiving large amounts of bot waves coming into our community, unfortunately we can’t really do anything aside from banning them, we are unable to make the community private due to the fact that Team Amino has to approve it and will not do so at this time. This means we are going to discuss ways to help you and what to look out for!

The bots

Right now the bots are ing one-two at a time until they get banned and then once they get banned they again. They with the name “AMINOCOINS”(they have no profile picture typically) and they send an ment asking if you’d like to purchase amino coins via direct messages or group chats.

How to keep yourself safe from the bot.

• The link could be an IP grabber or it could be something that gives you a virus, we really don’t know. This means that you should NOT click the link.

• As of now the bot can get through disabled dms, we don’t know why or how, but it can dm you even if your dms are disabled and if you appear offline. There was a brief moment where appearing offline made the bot believe it shouldn’t dm you, however that no longer is the case. Previously we told people to go offline or to disable dms, that no longer works.

• Avoid responding to the bot.

• Avoid giving any information to the bot. I know it may seem harmless to jokingly tell the bot your name or give it information, but we don’t know if someone is on the other end receiving your messages.

How you can help us

The best way to help us is to immediately report the bot . You can do so via flagging the profile or by ing the Staff Centre and reaching out to a staff member there.

How to flag a profile

First go to the bots profile and select the three dots which is highlighted here!

from there select flag for review, this will offer you the option to report them from a list.

realistically you should scroll down and hit spam, you could use off topic as well. but once that box pops up, just type “bot” or “they’re a bot” or something along those lines so we understand what you’re trying to say.
