Day Zero Episode 1 : Hazmat
Thor washed water through his hair, nervously thinking about the past events. He had worried that the Avengers would find out about his attempt to destroy the walking machine 'Ultron,' but no one had connected the dots... yet.
He wasn't present for Steve's big speech. He couldn't bring himself to look America's symbol of peace in the eyes. He had betrayed them.
He looked down and saw blood morphing into the shower water. He had a deep cut on his finger. It painfully reminded him of the sacrifice he had to make. He heard Rogers calling out for all the Avengers to assemble, yet he wasn't there.
He decided to push his doubts aside and get out of his 'depressing' shower. He pushed the grimy lever down and the water stopped instantly. Thank the gods, he wouldn't have to wallow in his self pity any more.
A deep blue jacket and jeans were on the side, left there for him in a neat pile. He had no idea who had left them there, yet he was thankful. He didn't want to be running around in chinky metal. He grabbed the material. It was soft, like silk.
Five minutes later, he walked out of the room, clothes flexing around his muscles and hair flowing behind his shoulders. Natasha was jogging towards him. "Hey, Thor," she shouted, stopping at his side. He looked around at her and raised an eyebrow. "What is it?" His voice rang out through the hallway and he frowned... It wasn't usually that loud. "Steve is giving his speech. I was sent here to find you," she explained. Thor nodded. "Lead the way, Widow."
-
"The recent battle has forced me to consider disbanding the team," Steve Rogers said, speaking into a grey and black microphone situated in the middle of the wooden platform he was standing on. No, that cannot be, thought Thor. But maybe it was for the best, he wouldn't have to hide his secret any more.
"Yet, I battled the governors and they agreed to let me keep the team together." Suddenly the God of Thunder heard rumbling in the distance. No one had seemed to notice it, yet. A wall of dust was slowly flying towards them. "Steve!" Thor shouted at Captain America. He looked him, and he pointed his hammer at the oncoming storm.
Steve looked over and his eyes widened. "EVERYONE INSIDE!" He shouted. He looked at Thor with worry in his eyes. "Come on!" he said.
Thor shook his head. "No, Steve. I can hold it off for a short while. Get everyone inside." Steve looked upset. "I'm not leaving a man behin-" suddenly the glass shattered and they were thrown backwards.
All Thor saw was dust and chunks of brick flying past. He looked around and he couldn't find Steve anywhere. "Steve!" He bellowed. He was swinging his hammer round and round, diverting the dust to the ages on his left and right, yet he still couldn't find the leader of the Avengers.
A big piece of dust suddenly flew into his eye and, caught off guard, he stopped swinging his hammer. All the dust swirled around him and then an enormous chunk of plaster flew off the wall and hit him in the head, knocking him out.

RING RING RING RING
The alarm bell rang out. The scientists were running all around the underground lab, they had to save the virus. If it broke... all hope would be lost, the world would be plunged into darkness they hadn't seen since the Black Plague.
One of them, the chief, pressed the code into the keypad as fast as he could. He could see the vial rattling on the stand. A few more minutes and it would be on the floor. It was a lethal substance, not something to mess with.
The keypad beeped and the door slid open. Three people with Hazmat suits quickly strode in, carrying a plastic box. They almost reached it, almost. Suddenly a big wave of movement hit the lab, and the vial slipped... and smashed on the ground.
All hope was lost. The Avengers were dead. New York was destroyed, and the most worrying of all... a zombie virus had been unleashed.
-
Thor woke up, groaning. It felt like everything was broken, yet he knew that was impossible because he was a god. He opened his eyes, reluctant to observe what had happened in the time he had been out.
The sky was orange and he could hear a radio playing. A crackly voice reported,
"Nuclear bomb dropped on New York City.. *fizz* many d----"
And it broke out to radio static. All around him, there were broken walls. There was a wall of plaster on top of him. He could easily break it, but he stopped and relished the stillness. Finally, he stretched his hand out. There was a hum of metal and lightning, then his hammer flew into his hand. His hand flew down and broke the wall in half,
He stood up and fell back down his leg was blackened with burn marks, it had started hurting the second he looked. Thor took a deep, shuddering breath, and used all his willpower to summon lightning. It hit the ground, blasting all the rubble away and healing him.
"Woah!" A voice said from the orange fog. "That was sick!" Thor looked around, "Who goes there?" he asked.
"Wait..." the voice rang out, sounding hesitant this time. "You're Thor, right? I- I saw what happened with your team... I'm sorry." He told the god, misery obvious in his voice.
"Thor..." a voice murmered from behind him. He spun around and saw Bruce Banner lying on the ground, half his body bleeding. He knelt next to him, tears in his eyes. "Banner... I'm sorry," he whispered, "Its all my fault.. I could've saved you."
Bruce blinked slowly. "It's not your fault. Are you alright?" he wheezed.
Suddenly someone sprinted next to Thor. He was wearing a dark orange suit, with a red cross on the front. He was wearing a white bag, dirty with soot. "He doesn't look good, you'll have to say goodbye," he told Thor.
Thor looked at Banner, tears in his eyes. "Goodbye, old friend. It has been an honour fighting with you," he said.
Bruce looked into Thor's eyes. "Promise me something, Thor," he croaked, "don't let the Avengers' death be in vain. Save the people you can save, and keep fighting, all right?" he coughed, blood spattering his t-shirt.
Thor nodded grimly, and stayed next to his side. Bruce closed his eyes, "Goodbye," he whispered. One. Last. Time.
Suddenly Thor flew backwards, hit by a gigantic fist. He looked up saw a mound of muscly green flesh twitching over his shadow. "HULK SMASH!" Hulk bellowed, his voice echoing around the newly-made nuclear canyons. "Banner!" The God of Thunder bellowed back, "get a hold of yourself!"
The Hulk's bright green eyes flicked up and down, his irises going white. "Hulk... must.... not... kill..." he said, seemingly forcing the words out.
The green rage machine threw his head back and roared for what seemed like forever. The medic stared at the two Avengers, shell-shocked.
Thor closed his eyes, ready for the fatal blow, but it didn't come. He looked up and saw the Hulk giving him a hand. He took it and stood up, staring into the monster's eyes. His skin had turned hard and yellow. "..Banner?" he asked, uncertainly.
"That is my name. We are in grave danger, Thor. This is only the beginning." He told him, sounding worried
"So, uh... anyone want to eat something?" the medic asked.
