[in the movie they dont give her a backstory at all, only that she's a part of the X-men and is Colossus's Trainee so I will be using the comics for her backstory]

We first meet her in a class with Emma Frost in Genosha as she is teaching telepathy. Ellie tells Emma that's she had this one nightmare fifty times where everyone in Genosha dies. And almost instantly Cassandra Nova wipes out over sixteen million people. Emma then carried out Ellie instantly calling out to for a hospital and went into a breakdown when Emma found out she was dead.

Ellie seems to appear in comic books after that but it's always a illusion or doesn't stay alive for that long until she gets resurrected by Necrosha. When she appears again she doesn't look the same, she drops the goth look in exchange for a more punk look. She uses her uses her telepathic powers to make a new life for herself but quickly is captured by Deadpool and the Merc's for Money. And then is saved by the defeat of Presence and s Domino for the new Mercs for Money.

Deadpool being deadpool wines about Domino stealing his team so in effort to lift his spirits Ellie uses her powers to make everyone deadpool themed. We eventually find out that S.H.I.E.L.D. sent people to look after her because they were worried about her powers developing and becoming a threat.

Between the fight of Inhumans vs. Mutants a fight break lose all because of her invention. An inhuman known as Lash goes out on a hunt to destroy all mutants. Magneto then releases a attack that will destroy the whole world. Which Ellie runs to hide in the depths of the Amazons with other mutants tired of fighting. Lash soon gets caught up with the rest of the mutants with deadpool slowing dying due to absorbing powers. She travels and fixes her mistakes she made and never interferes.
