Personality

Mara is a pacifist at heart and wants nothing but peace within her life. She is very kind, forgiving and merciful. No matter what is done to her, she cannot bring herself to hate anyone. She even forgives Shang Tsung for what he did to her. However when it comes to listening to her friend, Leonardo or defending those she loves, she will go against her own beliefs to keep them safe. Mara is fine with risking her own life, but will not sacrifice others for her own benefit unless it was for Smoke in anyway.

When it comes to Smoke, Mara has a lovesick obsession with him as part of a flaw due to her mutation. This obsession makes Mara become very erratic and downright dangerously unpredictable to others as she wants nothing but to be near Smoke. She is fully in ‘love’ with him and will become furious if she was told it was obsession. Mara loves Smoke so much, she wants to eat him.

Mara wants to eat his heart to show just how devoted she is to him. However Mara isn’t reckless or naive to think her affection will be reciprocated. She knows to keep her obsession hidden well. At times her obsession will slip if Smoke touches her or she has an item of Smoke she can smell. If she believes a certain action will get her closer to Smoke you better believe she will do it even if it jeopardize everything else, including those she consider as family.

The signs of her showing her obsession is; Flushed face, restlessness in her movements, her parasite showing even outside of combat, hair is a lot ‘puffier’ than it naturally should be, a smile she has that shows her teeth, dilating pupils

While Voracious is a parasite and NOT Mara, it’s important to put his own personality as he is a PART of Mara. Voracious is the opposite of Mara with him being mischievous, hostile to others and acts more like a jealous person to anyone she pays attention to, not including Leonardo. Voracious tries not to make choices for Mara and remain neutral. Voracious is protective of Mara and loves Mara very much. Voracious won’t attack anyone who Mara doesn’t attack UNLESS they attack Mara. So even if Mara doesn’t want to attack the person who already harmed her, Voracious won’t listen and will defend Mara. Even being a parasite he doesn’t take over Mara’s body. Voracious doesn’t have that type of power but even if he does, he wouldn’t want to.

He can listen to her thoughts but not influence them. Mara can’t read Voracious’s thoughts or understand his reaction to certain things so she can only guess. While Voracious can’t communicate with Mara through speech, he can with sounds and actions.

Voracious overall is a truly neutral entity as it will always just go along with what Mara wants or needs. It’s clear Voracious cares a lot about Mara as he shows signs of affection to her by flicking the ends of the hair at her cheek, ‘hugging’ her by wrapping hair around her or licking her face.

Physical Health

Mara has a parasite on the back of her head that is a sentient being. Mara named this parasite Voracious. It is just a mouth but any information Mara gets, it receives as well. The parasite hides itself by closing its mouth fully and blending in with her hair or at times will make itself like a ‘hairband’ and be on her bangs. It’s important to note the parasite can MOVE along her hair. It doesn’t stay just behind her head or on top of her head.

Mara is an experiment by Shang Tsung so she is capable of many things. She is meant to be a living weapon wield by Shang Tsung but was considered defective for a variety of reasons from escaping, not following his orders, her obsession, etc. She is very agile and has endurance to match it. For any physical strength, she relies on Voracious to help her as she is not as physically strong as others. Even when using him, she is still light and quick on her feet. Mara is able to evade majority of attacks at the last second or block.

Fighting Style

A mix of gymnastics with MMA. She is flexible and agile so is able dodge and react to a lot of attacks much quicker than others. She often relies on her parasite with her attacks and able to attack from multiple angles. Even grapple or hold some people still with the help of her hair.

Mental Health

Poor

Coming from a different timeline, seeing people who she should know but don’t recognize and having different lives yet same names and sometimes faces have put Mara in a position where she felt alone. There was no one familiar around her and even her friend Leonardo isn’t really the Leonardo she knows.

Mara has anxiety issues. She will sometimes pick at her nails or the end of her skirt when she is trying to self-sooth. Mara only does this if she is around people she’s not comfortable with or if Leonardo is confronting someone in front of her.

Mara does display some symptoms of PTSD due to how she was treated when being trained and ‘raised’ by Shang Tsung. This has caused to become aware of her surroundings 24/7, freezing when she encounters Shang Tsung, unable to sleep, flinches even when fighting and among other.

Mara has an obsession towards Smoke. This causes a lot of issues on its own (refer to personality). Mara’s obsession all came from the fact a version of him was kind to her. It was her first human interact with a person outside of the lab.

Magic Capability

Regeneration: Her body heals itself no matter the damage. Time varies depending on how bad the damage is. She is also able to regenerate her limbs which includes her head.

Durability/Pain tolerance: Mara’s body is able to withstand a lot of damage that ranges from gunshots, blades to explosions and even chemical attacks. She has high pain tolerance. This doesn’t mean she won’t be affected by the force used with an attack, she just won’t feel pain. However she still gets a ‘sensation’ of pain and will react accordingly even if it doesn’t hurt her as it’s a memory reaction

Parasite: Her parasite’s name is Voracious and is meant to make Mara a mock futakuchi-onna. A parasite that lives on the back of her head, it can open and close itself to show and hide away when it wants. The parasite can control her hair to turn it into a weapon or protection as well as tools to aid her. The parasite can make Mara’s hair as long or as short as IT wants, not what Mara wants. If Mara cut her hair while long, it will just regrow her hair.

Diet

Mara eats quite a lot for her weight. Needing at least triple the amount of her body weight in food to eat daily. She eats meat, vegetables, fruit and fish.

Scavenger: Mara can be a scavenger as her body allows her to consume anything, even if spoiled and not get sick.

Short Bio

Coming from a different timeline during the Armageddon Fight, Mara wanted nothing to do with what’s going on. At first Mara tried to hide herself and was encountered by a friend, Leonardo from an alternative timeline where he survived and she didn’t.

Together they made their way through the world until they were stopped by Shang Tsung and Bi-Han. Now forced to fight along side Bi-Han, Mara isn’t a trusted ally to the Lin Kuei but will do what she can to protect her friend, Leonardo. Until she realizes Smoke in this timeline is still alive.

Sorry if it sounds like a ramble. I’m still fixing her up. She does have a toyhouse but it is outdated so I’m working on it still.

She also isn’t THAT lore friendly. It follows the main story until the ending. So khaos reign did/didn’t happen in her story. It’s my story, I get to decide what universe she takes place in.

Believe it or not when I made her I forgot Sindel can control her hair. However Mara was always going to have a parasite so I feel it’s different enough as Mara lacks magic, can’t really float and uses her hair a lot more unlike Sindel. The parasite is meant to act as a second character rather than herself. So I feel like while it’s the same power, if she was a real character she honestly would be different enough
