mankind's greatest achievement became the reason for its demise as well. that accomplishment would come to be known as magic, the power which brought upon the end times. Originally a power source which bridged the gap between worlds. When magic was discovered all anyone could think about was the good it would bring. Nobody ever considered the horrors it would unleash as well. perhaps life would have gone on had this secret not been unveiled. perhaps it would have been for the better had humanity died off when it should have, all those years ago. this is the story of how that bright luminescence once known as life, faded from the known universe forever. though in order to understand, I suppose you must know how it started....
Magic was first discovered on earth in the year 2045, roughly around the time humanity would begin to break down. When the earth could no longer withstand the pollution, and began to fight back. Be it acid rains, floods, droughts and horrific weathers of all kinds. the founding of magic came from a recluse human which denied the concept of science, believing that such a concept could not be all there is to the world and everything beyond it. After discovering magic for the first time, this human would bring this new power source to the internet, knowing that perhaps those who he'd show it to in secret would attempt to steal it, or keep such a revolutionary idea hidden from the world. He would be correct in this route of unveiling. after just a few short years, the world would begin to widely adapt magic, using it for all sorts of contraptions which previously seemed impossible. With science and electricity quickly becoming objects of the past, the earth would begin to heal and the the terrible storms would vanish along with it. it would not be until 2057, just 12 years after magic's appearance that the invention which would later bring about the end, would be brought into the world. that invention being known simply as "Yggdrasil" named after norse mythology. a unique device that had the capability to connect earth to a system of other worlds through out the universe.
"Yggdrasil" did in fact connect all the worlds together, and one might think being connected would open up pathways for every race to flourish. the races would on the surface begin to get along with each other. sharing ideas with one another became the go to thing, but of course beneath it all there would be an almost hostile racism. pride in one's species being superior to all others was a blemish which would not be handled with ease. before the invention of "yggdrasil" each and every world believed themselves to be the center of the universe, and of course there was no reason to change from this idea even after discovering they weren't alone. with time ing for the next 500 years, tensions betwixt worlds would begin to grow. while the idea of simply ceaceding from the inter universal pact was on the table, nobody believe the others would simply leave them be. this wasn't what started the final battle which ended everything. That, would come later.
The year 2583 was when the Doomsday War would be declared, the year each and every planet would begin an all out battle to make sure they were the last ones standing. The reason for this war beginning was due to the sudden assassination of the Elven King. With nobody to blame, the already high tensions would begin to spiral out of control, which resulted in the Doomsday War. Sadly the party responsible for such atrocities would never come to light. Nobody knew just how horrific this war would turn out to be. I'm sure in the end, many regretted their actions. The war would last all but 100 years, and in that time, I've never before heard such despair and screams of agony.
One might believe that the war itself lasted a hundred years, but that was far from the truth. in just under a decade of time, each and every world would have been decimated. with entire worlds left in flames, and their major capitals having been completely destroyed. what was left of each race was nothing more than the personification of hatred. perhaps they couldn't even be called people anymore. simply animals with the desire to wipe every species but themselves from existence for putting their homes through such suffering. Earth itself was no longer blue and green, but a dark rock coated in ash and rubble. the oceans had been vaporized and the forests struck down with lightning, flood and destructive magic on scales which would make the nukes of the past look like fireworks. Human's themselves would have not been killed off entirely though, after all, despite the horrors, their species had a knack for surviving wars. Conflict was in their blood, and not all the blood had been spilled yet. With what looked like a pile of rubble, the rest of the celestial bodies were all but certain humanity had been killed off. This wasn't the case though, deep down in bunkers, humanity had resorted to an art which no other world possessed, one entirely different to magic, Science.
While the war would continue beyond the stars, humanity would recollect itself on earth and begin to construct one final project. falling back on their religious ideals, Humanity would begin to meld magic and science together. They had intended to forge and create their own god. One for which they believed would save them from extinction. Over the decade that initial war would rage on, humanity collected bio samples or corpses from each and every species they hunted. trophies perhaps, but now these corpses were more valuable than anything imaginable. Only now did humanity come to discover that magic and science were simply two side to the same coin. That fusing them would bring forth ultimate creation. Using science and magic, These Humans would create a body which comprised of DNA for each individual species amongst the stars. What was born from this creation would be known simply as "Project:GOD". For all their hard work and labor, sadly humanity would not survive the activation of "Project:GOD". The moment for which the entity would activate there would be an implosion of mana particles that would shred Earth to its atomic level, removing it from existence.
That being said, their efforts were not in vain, for a moment, that implosion of mana would shake the known universe, causing all war to cease just for a second. through the stars, these beings of rage would watch as something far beyond their comprehension would be born from the death of humanity. An uncaring entity of death, born from the rage which started this war. within just a few short hours, the life of each species would die out. This new born god would have been armed with detection skills comprised of both magic and science. Nobody would have the capability to escape its wrath. in the aftermath, was would be left could simply be called dead space a dark void comprised of gray rocks for which were covered in ruins, but not life. never again would this light shine on the universe again, for it had been snuffed out forever. Nobody knows what happened to "Project:GOD" or where it went, but then again, there's no one left to wonder, except me. Recently I haven't felt alone, almost as if something has become aware of my presence. For now, i'll simply wait, and watch over this graveyard. I'll reminisce on the stories of the past, for what time I have left.
