The light glaring through the ice covered window, the cold seeping through the crack between it and the sill, and the empty space where there once laid another warm body was enough to wake Eli up. He peeled his eyes open slowly, yawning as he sat up in bed. He regretted it immediately, though, pulling the duvet up to try to bring some heat back to his body.
His furnace had stopped working a month or so ago, and after causing the power to go out the night before, he had decided he'd go without his plug-in heaters for the next few days. The weather channel hadn't called for snow, not as far as he knew, so he was rather surprised to see it blanketing the ground outside upon opening the window. No wonder he had gotten so cold. He closed it back and got up, wrapping his arms around himself as he went to find his partner.
He entered the kitchen first, expecting to find the other making them breakfast in a pair of underwear, like most mornings. Upon seeing that today was different, he moved on to the living room. Sitting on the floor by the fireplace, a blanket around his shoulders and a cup of coffee in his hands, was the man he loved. Eli cracked a smile, walking over to sit down next to him.
"Don't look so surprised. It's literally freezing out, Elijah. Even I can't handle that much cold. It messes with my quirk." Austin wrapped his arm and blanket around Eli, letting the smaller male lean on him. Austin was usually his own personal heater—after all, he had heat manipulation as a quirk.
"I know, I know. You should fix my furnace, and then neither of us would freeze," Eli smiled innocently at his lover. After only receiving an annoyed eye roll, he pressed a kiss to the others jaw. "Please? You don't have to yet, since we won't be here after tomorrow. I know you can, though, and then— Instead of spending the money on a professional, I can take you to a classy restaurant. Make you feel special."
Austin paused, before smirking. He turned his head to look at Eli, "You already make me feel special, Elijah." He kissed him on the lips softly, before resting his head on the other’s. The two sat there for a bit longer, comfy and warm in each other’s embrace, before Austin threw the cover off and stood up. "Alright, c'mon. You haven't even started packing! Guess you’re waiting on me to do it for you? Remind me: Why do I love you, again?"
"I ask myself that everyday." This caused Austin to stop, watching his boyfriend stand. He kissed him again, telling Eli not to think like that. Eli just smiled in response; although he was insecure, afraid that Austin would stop loving him, he knew in his heart that they were in the long run together. He had to it, he was absolutely ecstatic about that.
The two went back to Eli's room to pack. They laughed and kissed and pet the others’ hair whenever they got the chance, being their cheesy selves. He probably should have started packing sooner, he soon came to realize, considering he had so much to do. Luckily they only needed clothes, things to remind them of home, and their electronic devices—all the necessities would be provided for them.
They had a long trip ahead, clearly; Eli wasn't really sure why they had agreed to go teach a hero class in another country about America and their heroes, especially during the time of year when weather got bad and Austin’s fear of flying would be at its worst. But, he was glad to get to do it with his best friend.
And anyways, they had always wanted to go scope out their overseas competition—Japan was home to some of the best heroes in the world.
And Eli knew how much Austin wanted to sur them all.

Hello guys!
I’ll have both of these OCs up soon, (Edit: Austin is now up! I’ll get Eli up when I can) but this gave you a little background into Austin and a view of Eli’s personality. This will probably be apart of a more elaborate story, but for now it’s just a little Winter one-shot. A very short, little Winter one-shot.
This is my first post on MHA Amino, and my first ever writing piece on any Amino. I'm actually really happy with the outcome, and only nearly threw my phone once when trying to set it up on this blog.
Constructive criticism is welcome, of course! Hope you enjoyed!
Holy fudge this got featured?! Thank you guys so much!
