Hiya! For the Vigilante prompt, I created a new OC named Kana Kimura, whom I’ll introduce below!!

Kana Kimura is the daughter of two pro hero parents, and as a child she wanted nothing more than to grow up to be like them. As she grew older however, she began to notice the two-sidedness of some pros. It became clear to her that her parents were in the industry for the fame and wealth that came with being a hero. She would overhear them late at night making fun of victims they had rescued, as well as complaining that they didn’t get enough praise or money for certain missions.

Kana’s parents insist to her that she should go to UA High to become a pro hero like them, but their reasoning for why they want her to is obviously shallow. “You’ll make good money like us! The public will love you!” they tell her constantly. Kana hates that about her parents, and decides she’ll become a hero on her own , not for fame or wealth, but to help people genuinely. After graduating middle school, she refuses to apply for any high school with a hero course, and when her parents confront her about it, she rebels by running away, getting a minimum wage job at a fast food restaurant in order to survive, while on her off days she disguises herself and patrols the city to fight crime illegally.

And now, a short story starring Kana:

A petite figure stood in the alleyway between two buildings. Dressed in all black with a medical mask hiding her face, the girl pulled her hood over her head before casually heading into the city. She had a simple quirk; one that allowed her to turn any plant into a weapon by making them follow her every command. For this reason, she always wore a belt that held small pots of succulents. They came in all shapes and sizes, making some better equipped for some tasks than others, which made her quirk quite versatile when used correctly. The girl treated her plants as if they were her children, lovingly tending to them each day after a long day of heroics.

This was Kana Kimura, a young runaway-turned-vigilante, who firmly believed in fighting for the greater good of the community, not for money or attention. This was why she always kept her identity a secret by using a pseudonym in public and dressing inconspicuously whenever she aided someone. Today was a day like any other. Kana had finished her work for the day; a mediocre job at McDonalds that she didn’t particularly enjoy, but it paid the bills for her tiny apartment in a run down shopping district, so she put up with it. Her favorite part of the day was after work when she did her late-night patrols, where she searched for civilians in danger and assisted them using her plants.

As she walked down the quiet sidewalk, Kana soon found her first target. A woman was standing at a phone booth, focussing intently on the conversation she was having, while a pickpocketer snooped through her purse from behind her. Without hesitation, Kana leaped into action. While hidden behind a lightpost, she activated her quirk on one of her succulents, a String of Pearls, and sent the vines in the direction of the pickpocketer, and they wrapped around his wrist to stop him in his tracks. Startled, he yelped in surprise, getting the woman’s attention as she spun around to face him. Shocked by seeing the man holding her wallet that he had taken from her purse, she whacked him over the head with the phone that she held, causing the crook to drop her wallet and run off into the nearby alleyway. The woman picked up her wallet and her eyes landed on the vines that were retreating to their owner near the lightpost. She and Kana made eye for a brief moment as Kana shot a thumbs up in the woman’s direction, before swiftly turning in the opposite direction and making her way down the street, her job here now complete. “T-.. Thank you!” The woman shouted after her, sounding a bit confused since the girl she had seen didn’t appear to be a pro hero, but she was grateful for the help nonetheless.

These were the type of simple tasks Kana would typically complete in a night. She was smart enough to let the pros handle the more dangerous villains for her own safety, since she has had no experience in battle of any kind. Though in the case she ever got caught up in a villain attack, she would be more than willing to assist in evacuations however she could. For today though, she was satisfied with her accomplishments, glad to be a hero in her own right without needing any of the extra perks that came with being licensed. Kana was doing her part to help the people of the city she loved, and in her heart that was more than enough.
