Ecto-mesmomorph. Benjamin’s physique is incredibly lean and lithe. He has a difficulty gaining weight and although he is relatively fit, lacks the proper strength and conditioning like other pro heroes and villains. His frail nature is partly due to his reliance on his quirk, his experimentation, and disregard for eating and sleeping.

Skin:

Porcelain. Incredibly fair due to lack of sunlight and slightly discoloured. An ill grey under his eyes and in the hollows of his face. Surprisingly unblemished. No sun spots because, well, he doesn’t go out in the sun. He still struggles leaving the confines of artificial light, his skin burns if he’s out for too long.

Hair:

Storm cloud grey. Incredibly curly and unkempt, a little overgrown and reaches the nape of his neck. It sweeps over his eyes and he continuously pushes it back but to no avail. He doesn’t have the time to cut it, and it acts as a curtain for whenever he drifts off to sleep.

Eyes:

Visible behind a pair of black half frame spectacles. Always tired, dull with lack of sleep. Sometimes spark with excitement at the prospect of new ideas, things he’s interested in, and doing what he loves. Onyx black. Glossy like the gemstone under lab lights. Decadent honey brown under warm sunlight— but when has he ever gone outside?

Scars:

Multiple cut scars littering his neck, arms and legs, self-inflicted during his younger years when using his quirk and inflicted by the scientists who conducted tests on him. Several puncture wounds from needles when extracting blood to store and utilise his quirk. A large skin graft on his left shoulder that stretches to the small of his back— one of his experiments decided to fight back.

Attire

Villain:

As a member of the Black Suit Conglomerate [BSC], it’s not surprise that Benjamin’s villain outfit consisted of, well, a black suit. Though he enjoyed how he looked in a suit, Benjamin often fell asleep in his work clothing, so majority of the time he wore his uniform dishevelled with the tie slightly loosened and off his neck. The only time his signature lab coat would leave his form was only if he was showering. He owned more than one, so he was hardly ever seen without it.

Hero:

As a hero, Benjamin has abandoned the penguin suit but kept with the same colour palette despite it making him look paler than he already is. He wears a black turtle neck with its sleeves ending at his elbows. On his left forearm is a grey wrist gauntlet that allows Benjamin to drain and store blood, as well as shoot the blood filled darts at his target. He wears black slacks that allow for easy manoeuvring, and at its waist is a utility belt with multiple pockets housing small dead animals for on the go assists and lavender to hide the scent of decay. He wears black boots suited for running. Benjamin’s hero costume completely contrasts his flamboyant personality, though he finds it ‘comfortable’ and ‘slimming’. He still wears his lab coat, unable to bear parting with it.

Good Traits:

Relatively friendly and easy to get along with. Highly motivated and ionate, he’s the type to complete tasks before he even receives them— though that’s only applicable with the things he enjoys. Incredibly innovative and creative, always thinking of new ideas and the best ways to go about them. He thrives in independence and autonomy, and has an innate sense of curiosity and wonder to constantly learn new things.

Bad Traits:

Struggles working in teams unless he has a good relationship with its and is able to place his full trust in them— he’s weary when it comes to things like this. He is a very logical thinker, which can be good or bad depending on how you view it, and tends to walk into debates as if they’re arguments. Just a small factor apart of his narcissism, though it’s significantly dwindled since becoming a hero as it’s important to keep an open mind. Rude people tend to rub him the wrong way, and he is one to retaliate, as petty as that may seem.

Other:

Benjamin is one to express his appreciation for beauty, which could be part of the reason as to why he’s so confident, extroverted and flirty. Slightly feminine personality wise, and is shrouded in an air of flamboyance unless he’s terribly fatigued and or ill. Benjamin is highly intelligent, and has the ability to think five steps ahead at all times. He cares deeply for his creations, going as far to call them his ‘children’ and referring to himself as their ‘father’. He has a tendency to get possessive quite easily, and isn’t the best at hiding it.

Likes:

Experimenting; it gives him a sense of fulfilment, a purpose. Discovering new things allows him to express himself and further develop his craft. He also has a deep love for his experiments, which he refers to as his ‘children’— it’s not weird. He has a coffee addiction too, and can drink up to a gallon a day.

Dislikes

Rude people; give him attitude and he’ll throw it right back at you ten times as hard. When people underestimate his work; Benjamin prides himself on being the best at what he does. Any jab at his creatures, creations or experiments is a direct hit to him.

Mental Health:

Since becoming a hero, Benjamin’s general mental state is relatively stable, if not a bit childish— it’s a significant change considering his previous mental state consisted of mood swings and temper tantrums when things refused to go his way.

Mental Disorders/Illnesses:

Chronic insomnia — though, he’s been working hard to break his terrible sleep patterns ever since leaving his life of villainy behind. He doesn’t have to work day and night for weeks on end to create weapons of mass destruction anymore.

Physical Health:

Sickly complexion and suffers symptoms of blood loss and fatigue. Not incredibly athletic but is fit enough to run or fight if need be. Since becoming a hero, the bags under his eyes have noticeably lightened, however he thinks they’ll always be stained there. He doesn’t mind.

Frankenstein – mutation type

When injecting his blood into dead animals or deceased human bodies, they are reanimated and mutated into subservient undead monsters. They are placid and retain no memory of their previous life apart from being able to use whatever quirk they possessed before death, and often have glowing red eyes. They speak in growls and unintelligible groans, unable to possess the ability of human speech or personal thoughts. If given the time and care, they’re more than likely to develop the brain capacity of a 6-year-old, however these creatures often die due to lack of the ’s blood. Upon dying, the same cadaver is unable to be brought back a second time.

He is able to use his quirk on the living, however it doesn’t last as long and the target is able to take back their body if being mentally strong enough to deny or incapacitate their body. The effects last depending on the blood type, progression from longest time to shortest time being O, AB, B, A, and how fresh the blood is. The fresher the blood, the longer the subject will last under his command.

Benjamin uses items he developed to store pre-drawn blood and shoot them from little syringe-like bullets into his targets. He also stores small dead animals such as rats and birds in his coat pockets to use on site. The drawbacks of his quirk are the symptoms of blood loss or lack thereof when he creates too many creatures, and intense headaches and migraines when having to control them all to do his bidding. His quirk is a main contributor to his sickly appearance. Ever since becoming a hero, Benjamin does not use his quirk on humans corpses anymore. He’ll only use his quirk on live humans in attempts to subdue them if they pose a threat or danger.

Benjamin was born and raised in Lower Manhattan, New York to his Chinese mother and Taiwanese father, who both moved to America for better work opportunities. His mother had a quirk that allowed her to control animals, and his father was quirkless. No one’s quite sure as to how Benjamin ended up with his quirk.

It was only a few weeks after his fourth birthday when a stray dog bit his arm and, upon having the boy’s blood enter its system, suddenly froze up and became ive. Yes, his parents were quite concerned seeing a German Shepard triple his size follow him around for the day and do whatever he asked. It eventually snapped out of its stupor though, and Benjamin’s mother took care of the problem easily. They didn’t mention the boy’s quirk again, however he wasn’t so easy to forget.

Benjamin would steal knives and other various sharp objects, using them in attempts to activate his ability again. When his parents became aware, they grew concerned and kept a sharper eye on him. He was about to turn five after all, and five year olds had no business with blades. So the boy settled for the next best fascination— collecting dead animals. It started with rats and mice, caring for and cleaning their tiny bodies to display on his shelf. He named them, of course, because what child doesn’t name their pets? (His first pet was a pudgy white House Mouse stuck under the fridge. He, fittingly, named it Bǎo.)

There was no harm to it, though his parents were thoroughly perturbed when the obsession moved to larger animals like pigeons, and then small cats and dogs he dragged through their apartment door. And then he started his experimenting. Chopping and crudely sewing parts together on his bedroom floor. Brandishing his creations to his mother who could only gawk at the cadavers in terror. Her expression grew even more horrified when they started walking.

The last time Benjamin saw his parents was when he was six. They’d grown scared of him and his habits, and on a day he spent harmlessly playing with his creations, he was promptly taken away by strangers wearing odd clothes. Then began his days on the inside of the cage. Being experimented on. Blood being constantly drawn from his veins to fill bags. Dead animals tossed into his microscopic living space for him to reanimate, only for them to crumble to fur and bones after a certain amount of time. They did the same when he was older, around ten; he didn’t want to know how they were able to get their hands on so many human cadavers.

Benjamin was eleven years old when he was rescued from his cell by a strange man in a black suit. There were a whole lot of them, claiming to be from the Black Suit Conglomerate, or BSC for short. Not only were they all uniform, but they were strictly business and incredibly intriguing. They were an elusive organisation hidden in the depths of New York City, and walking into a new place and not having to sleep in a cage or be exposed to any more experimentation, Benjamin could safely say he was home.

He spent the next ten years with the BSC, growing up and learning everything they taught him. As a prodigy, he excelled the work he was given and was intelligent enough to venture on his own around the ins and outs of the laboratory that was officially his. The boy worked hard to create various weapons and creatures for the BSC, more than happy to serve his cause and continue creating. The Nomu project certainly was his favourite. Developing all of those children of his and earning the praise he deserved was certainly a proud moment in his life.

Life in the BSC was happy. He didn’t feel caged or confined. Not only did he have his experiments, but when the BSC continued recruiting, Benjamin found that he also had a family. Sure, he had his moments, and had a tendency to get carried away with cruel experimentation and methods of inhumane torture, but a small part of him couldn’t help but think that as long as he had his family, as long as he felt wanted, he couldn’t care what he was doing.

Then his world fell apart. The BSC was no more, and he lost his family. Powerless on his own, and now without a purpose, Benjamin decided to turn the tables and try something new. The Thawed Hearts Organisation crossed his path, and a new life away from villainy, a life he had full control of instead of being influenced from the start, had begun. He doubted he would find the happiness he craved again, but perhaps he’d be the cause of that for other people. He’d strive to make others smile, with the assistance of his macabre quirk and carrying the weight of his past.

He still has a lot to learn before he comes close to being a good hero, but he’ll get there. One way or another, Benjamin Jie will do some good for once in his life.

• Benjamin took it upon himself to learn Chinese once ing the BSC as he was forced to speak and write English when he was taken from the government. His diligent study has made him a native fluent speaker.

•Benjamin is a shameless flirt, though has never once been in a relationship due to his commitment to his work. There was only ever one person who seriously caught his eye, in a romantic sense.

•He sees any flirting or romantic behaviours reciprocated as a threat, and gets extremely flustered and immediately uninterested.

•Benjamin doesn’t need to wear glasses to see. He just thinks they make him look smarter, and that they’re a nice accessory.

•Benjamin’s favourite creature created with his quirk is a cat fox hybrid named Dutch.

•Benjamin’s personality as a villain is very much influenced by Grell Sutcliffe from Black Butler.

•Benjamin believes that the hardest part about being a hero is being polite and respectful to people who don’t deserve it. He’s still not quite there with that aspect of heroism...

alrighty, so there we go! new revised Benji profile and what not. i’ve been meaning to update and change some things up with his character, and this contest gave me the opportunity to do just that. it’s pretty neat thinking about ‘what if twink boy benji became a hero’ ... anywho....
