Hallo!

I’m so excited for Valentine’s Day that I just can’t contain myself. I ended up drawing this babe‘s OC Shisuke, with my gal Kurumu to go with the fanfic below. I’d debated on waiting til next weekend to post, but I figured why not now?

While the picture itself if not the focus of the Sweets Treats Event, the story itself is. However, this is cross-tagged with Love Crush Weekend, so it’s all going up together! lol

Synopsis:

This story takes place shortly after he begins taking a slight interest in her, but he’s not willing to it his feelings, just yet. Kurumu makes him a few gifts for Valentine’s Day, but worries about whether he will like them or not. What she doesn’t realize is that he actually comes up with a gift for her, as well.

Enjoy! :two_hearts:

Snow flurried through the city as Kurumu made her way to school. The cold air nipped at the exposed skin on her face, neck, and upper chest. Since it was still winter, she wore thick, fleece-lined leggings under her uniform skirt. Her hair tousled gently in the wind as flakes of snow began to stick to it. Despite wearing her uniform sweater and her coat on top of it, she was still shivering in her boots. Kyo, however, seemed unfazed by the chilly air. He casually walked with his hands in his pockets, enjoying the snow as it gently landed on his face.

”You okay, sis? You act like you’re completely frozen.” He asked, laughing a little at her misery in the cold weather.

”That’s because I am frozen..” She mumbled through her teeth as they chattered. The sleeves of her coat were pulled down over her hands in an attempt to keep them warm.

”Well, we’ll be at school soon. You can warm up, then.” Kyo pat the top of her head and ruffled her hair a little bit. Kurumu huffed, trying her best to fix her hair and keep her hands covered at the same time.

Within minutes, they had made it to school and kicked the snow off of their shoes as they entered the building. After exchanging their outdoor shoes for some indoor shoes, Kyo went on to the classroom to prepare for the day. Kurumu, however, went to find Shisuke to give him his gift for Valentine’s Day. The blonde wandered the halls for a moment until she found him outside of his classroom with his younger brother, Kirito.

”Happy Valentine’s Day, Kurumu!” Kirito waved to her as soon as he spotted her. He handed a homemade card to her that had a short poem on the inside. She couldn’t help but to think it was sweet, even though she looked to him as a little brother.

”Same to you, Kirito! Wait just a sec..” Kurumu dug around in her bag and pulled out a small cellophane bag full of heart shaped chocolates, then handed them to Kirito. “These are for you!”

”For me? Really? Did you make them yourself??” He looked at the chocolates as though they were a gift from a divine power.

”Sure did. Don’t eat them all at once, though. You might get a stomach ache.” She warned him, then dug around in her bag some more. Kurumu turned to give her gifts to Shisuke, but there were other girls trying to give him gifts. When she saw the way he was denying their gifts, she looked down at the ones in her bag and second guessed wanting to give them to him. Kirito could tell by the frown on her face that she was concerned.

”What did you get for Shisuke?” He asked, leaning over to glance in to her bag. Without her noticing, Shisuke did eavesdrop on their conversation since he had no interest in what the other girls were trying to give him.

”Oh, well.. I just had a couple of things for him, but I don’t know that he’ll even want it..” Kurumu pulled out a heart shaped container, along with a plastic tube.

”I’m sure he’ll like it. Why don’t you give it to him now?”

”He seems a bit preoccupied, at the moment. I think I’ll wait.” She mumbled as she tucked the gifts back in to her bag. The look in her eyes showed how disheartened she was mixed with the little bit of jealousy over other girls giving him gifts, but Kirito did his best to make her feel better.

”Even so, you could try to make your way past those girls and give it to him anyway.” He looked over to Shisuke and noticed that he had been eavesdropping on their conversation. “Or maybe you could wait until the end of the day. That way he won’t have to carry it around the whole time.”

”Yeah, I guess you’re right. Thanks, Kirito.” Kurumu gave him a tight hug of appreciation. Of course, being Kirito, he took advantage of that moment and really made the most out of the hug.

”Uhh.. Kirito.. you’re squishing me a little.” She mumbled, but all he did was make a sound that resembled “mhm”. It took a good 30 seconds before he finally let go of her and let her go on to class.

The school day seemed to drag on, but she was finally in her last class of the day, which happened to be one she shared with Shisuke. As always, she was distracted, but this time a little more than usual. After wrapping up with her in-class work, she sat at her desk and wondered when would be the best time to give him his gifts, or if she should give them to him at all.

’If he didn’t accept gifts from any other girls, why would he take mine?’

’Maybe it would be better if I just didn’t give it to him..’

Just as she had begun wallowing in her doubtful thoughts, the bell rang to signal the end of the day. Students packed up their belongings and began heading out the door. Some made their way home, while others went to after-school clubs or began cleaning duty. Kurumu let out a sigh and stood up from her chair to stretch, then made her way out of the classroom door.

”Hey..” A familiar voice called out to her. She turned to see it was Shisuke, his back leaned against the wall and his arms crossed.

”H-Hey! What are you still doing here?” Kurumu asked, zipping the top of her bag closed so he wouldn’t see what was inside.

”Let me see them.” Shisuke pushed himself up off the wall and walked to her with his hands in his pockets.

”Huh? See what?”

”You know what. The gifts. Hand ‘em over.”

”Uhh.. gifts?”

”Yeah. It’s Valentine’s Day, after all. I know you got me something.”

”And what makes you so sure of that?” She huffed, crossing her arms and puffing out her cheeks.

”You’re the only person I was expecting something from today. Besides, I heard you talking to Kirito about them, so hand ‘em over.”

”You could at least say please.” Kurumu teased him with a smile. Shisuke huffed and rolled his eyes.

”Alright then, please hand ‘em over.”

”Fine, but you’ll have to wait ‘til you get home to open them.”

”Yeah, whatever. Just hurry up before Kirito comes looking for me.”

”Sure thing, rude.” She couldn’t help but to chuckle at how impatient he was. Slowly, as if to mock him, she opened her bag and eventually handed over his gifts. “I know it isn’t much, or anything extremely pricey, but they were made with a lot of love. Make sure you’re extra careful with the tube. That’s the real precious cargo.”

”Got it.” Shisuke tucked them away in to his bag and walked on, so Kurumu walked down the hall to find Kyo outside of his classroom waiting for her. The two walked home together, as did Shisuke and his brother.

”Anything interesting happen at school today?” Hana asked her boys as they walked through the door.

”Yeah! It was a good day.” Kirito replied.

”Nope.” Shisuke mumbled under his breath.

”Kurumu made me chocolates, but I ate them all by the end of my first class. Then five other girls gave me valentines! I think her chocolate gave me good luck.” Kirito bragged to their mother while he rummaged through the kitchen to look for a snack.

Shisuke closed the door behind him, hung his coat, and went on to his room. When he opened the door to his bedroom, he sat his bag down on his bed and took out the gifts that Kurumu had made for him. Carefully, he sat them down on his desk. He wondered if he should eat what was inside the plastic heart shaped container, or if it was laced with some kind of love poison she could have potentially gotten from another student. After all, he couldn’t be too careful. His hands slowly reached for the lid and pulled it back, releasing the soft scent of chocolate in the air. The moment it hit his nose, his mouth watered. In front of him sat a cake just big enough for one person to eat. It was simply decorated so that the toppings didn’t overrun the cake’s flavor.

”I guess a little cake before dinner wouldn’t hurt..” He muttered to himself. As he made his way to the kitchen to get a fork, Kirito knew exactly what he had done. Kurumu knew that cake was a weakness of Shisuke’s, one that he wouldn’t turn down. Giggling to himself, Kirito watched his brother casually walk in, grab a fork from the drawer, then back to his room without saying a word. Shisuke took his books from his bag as he went back to his desk so he could study as he ate. The tube had rolled to the edge of his desk that was against the wall. It had been out of his sight for a bit, so it was also out of mind.

With his first forkful of cake, he looked it over closely. It didn’t have an odd scent or any weird colors to it. There was only some translucent red/pink edible glitter on top, with some powdered sugar and a few hearts sprinkled here and there. The cake was just a pure chocolate cake. Finally, he talked himself in to taking a bite of it.

The chocolate frosting was very smooth, melting instantly in his mouth. He waited a moment before he swallowed just in case anything might have tasted off. To his pleasure, the cake was normal, so he proceeded to finish eating it. Shisuke opened his textbook and began studying. After a few moments of mindless eating, he dipped his fork down in to the container and realized it was empty. A slight feeling of disappointment washed over him because he was genuinely enjoying the cake. Though, he knew he could get more from her any time.

’I guess I should go thank her.’ He thought to himself. As he glanced up from the book, he realized that he never looked to see what was in the tube.

’This better not be anything lewd..’ His eyes narrowed and he carefully popped the top off of the tube. When he tipped the end up it upward, a fairly large, sheet of thick paper slid out and he hesitated for a moment before unrolling it.

”I knew you’d go back for it!” Kirito exclaimed. He had quietly opened the door to Shisuke’s room so he could spy on his brother, but when he saw the gifts, he couldn’t contain his excitement. Kirito ran to Shisuke’s side and looked over his shoulder at the drawing Kurumu had made. It was another charcoal drawing of Shisuke, Kirito, and their mother resembling a family photo that was hanging in their living room. There was a slight smell to it from the fixative that had been applied days prior, but it wasn’t too strong.

”Wow, I didn’t even give her that picture, this time. She must have drawn it from memory! That’s so cool. I bet she spent a long time working on it.” Kirito kept looking over it, but Shisuke stood up from his chair and walked out of his room. He had to go thank her, now. As he slipped his shoes on and walked out the front door, he could hear the thumping of Kirito’s feet running through the house.

”Mom, look! Look at what Kurumu made for Shisuke!” His voice trailed off as the door closed. Shisuke couldn’t help but smile a little at his brother’s excitement.

Snow crunched beneath his feet as he walked to Kurumu’s house. A gust of wind brushed against his cheeks. The sting of the icy breeze made him regret not grabbing his hat and scarf. It wasn’t going to be a long walk, but he made sure to walk a little bit slower so he could think about what to say. Conversation certainly wasn’t his strong suit. Before he realized it, he had been met with their gated driveway. A heavy sigh left his lips and he pushed open the gate that had already been slightly opened. There was a nervous feeling in his stomach that he hadn’t really felt before. Shisuke raised his hand to knock on the door, hesitating for just a moment, then going through with it. The door opened slightly and he was met with Kyo’s glaring eyes.

”Why are you here?”

”Why do you think?”

”She’s not home.”

”Yes I am, you idiot!” Kurumu called out, fumbling with her coat as she put it on. She grabbed her brother’s arm and pulled him away from the door.

”Go back to your video games.” She shoo’d him away and stepped outside, closing the door behind her. “This must be something pretty important. You never come by unless I drag you here.”

”Yeah, well.. I just wanted to.. you know, say thanks for the gifts.” He shoved his hands in the pockets of his thick jacket and looked away, trying to be nonchalant about it.

”You could have just texted me and told me that. It would have saved you from freezing.” She chuckled, rubbing her hands together in an attempt to keep them warm.

”I could have, but I had something to give you, too.” He shuffled his foot in the snow, pushing it around a little bit. A faint blush colored his cheeks a tint of pink. Kurumu stood there confused. She honestly didn’t mind that she hadn’t gotten anything in return. She was just grateful that he liked and accepted her gifts. He didn’t seem to have brought anything with him, so she couldn’t help but wonder what it was. Shisuke stepped closer and leaned in, his face being even with hers as she stood on one of the steps leading to the front door. His chilled lips pressing gently against her cheek for a couple of seconds.

Without saying a word, he turned his back to her and began walking towards the gate. Her body was frozen, but not from the cold weather, she was frozen in shock. The sound of his footsteps in the snow snapped her out of her trance.

”Wait, you missed my lips, Shisuke!” Kurumu called out to him before he could get too far.

”No I didn’t. Don’t press your luck.” He replied as he walked through the gate and out to the sidewalk to head home.

”Well.. it was worth a shot..”
