This is probably considered OC x CC but like it doesn’t necessarily have to be romantic. Special thanks to my friend Lyssa for kicking my ass and telling me to believe in myself and to stop being so negative about my writing. And also special thanks to my friend Xem for helping me describe the murder scene and how it smells, you really helped out a lot.

Footsteps approached the large mansion. The outside of it was quite fancy with all the gold adorning the gates and entrance. Walking up to the door and ringing the doorbell, the woman couldn’t help but wonder if the place was real. It all seemed like some dream, a mansion that you’d only see in fairytales. The wind blew as time ed, blowing through her chocolate locks and kissing her tanned cheeks. Her hand adjusted her mask, while the other one clutched a letter.

Soon enough, the door opened to reveal an old butler with kind eyes. “Greetings, young miss. Do you have your invitation?” He asked. His voice was a bit worn, probably from attending to everyone’s needs that night, but his tone remained professional. A letter was placed in his gloved hand and he looked down to inspect it. A small smile pulled on his lips and he nodded.

“Very well. This way, miss,” He told her and stepped to the side, allowing her age in.

The interior was even more extravagant than the exterior. With the marble staircase and pillars, and the gold railings. The smell was fragrant, like white jasmine and a hint of vanilla. Her heels clicked against the floor as she walked up the stairs, following the butler. They reached another door made of dark mahogany wood. He placed a hand on the shiny doorknob and opened the door to reveal a truly grandiose sight.

The chandelier hung over the room, the light emanating off of it causing the place to glimmer brilliantly. Cinnamon brown eyes widened at the sight, her breath hitched in her throat. The other guests waltzed to the music, their movements elegant, every step was made with grace and poise. It was as if they had been doing this for years. All of their clothes were certainly far from cheap looking, the finest silks and fabrics seemingly tailored perfectly to fit their bodies. Their faces were obscured by fancy masks. The scene looked straight from a book. The immortal couldn’t help but wonder if she was even actually invited there. She seemed out of place among them, not knowing who was who. It was likely that some of her friends were around here somewhere, but she didn’t see anyone familiar.

Her train of thought was interrupted when she heard an oddly familiar voice call out to her.

“Would you like a dance?”

She looked up to see a tall man with raven black hair and a fancy looking suit. A shadow hid his eyes, so it was difficult to make out the color of them from that angle. He held out his hand, waiting for her to take it.

Mari pursed her lips, shaking her head. “Sorry, I’d love to and I’m sure you’re a great dancer but… I haven’t danced in so long,” She responded, her fingers fiddling with her very pale rose gown.

His expression was impossible to decipher, but he walked forward and took her hand. She felt herself being tugged toward the dancefloor.

“Just follow my lead,” His words were certain, reassuring her that he would help her.

1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3… Her mind chanted as they danced to the music, a symphony of violins, cellos, and an organ. His movements were so smooth, so undeniably skilled. Each step made by him was performed with such confidence.

1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3… With his hand on her waist and her hand on his shoulder, they continued to waltz. Their fingers intertwined, fitting so well together. Usually, she’d be keeping an eye on her feet in fear of stepping on her partner’s, but the immortal couldn’t help but stare back at him.

1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3… He spun her and dipped her body, their eyes meeting. She could’ve sworn she saw a glint of turquoise coming from the left eye. It almost reminded her of someone she knew—

And with that, the music ended and she was placed back on her feet. He placed a chaste kiss on her hand before pulling away.

“Who… are you?” Her voice was breathy, talking as if she woke from a dream.

His lips pulled into a slight smirk before he placed a finger to them.

“It would ruin the fun if one were to reveal the mystery behind the mask.”

The mysterious man let go off her and walked away, leaving her wanting more of his touch.

Mari bit her lip, but decided to walk away as well. Being a wallflower for the rest of the night seemed pretty appealing at the moment. While her dance with that mysterious man was breathtaking, she figured not every dance would be as magical.

Turns out, she wasn’t the only one that would just be staying by the sidelines. Her chocolate brown eyes met crimson, instantly recognizing the man’s spiky ash-blond hair despite the mask that was meant to conceal his identity. His three-piece suit consisted of a red dress shirt with a grey vest which had white roses adorning the sides and a black tie. She smirked.

“Hey, Suki,” Her tone was playful as she occupied the spot beside him. He didn’t look at her, but one could see the irritation in his ruby eyes. “You never struck me as the type to be in these types of events.”

He scoffed. “Shitty Hair forced me to come here, saying it’d be a fun experience or some shit.”

“Eijiro’s here?!” Mari gasped, looking around in search of her best friend.

“Yeah, that idiot ran off to dance with some people,” The ash-blond replied, crossing his arms.

“Oh, I see. I suppose it’d be impossible for him to not enjoy such an event,” She leaned back, relaxing. A sigh escaped her glossy lips.

“Honestly, I’m actually really glad you’re here with me.”

He didn’t say anything, only huffing slightly.

She took this as a good sign and continued talking. “I was actually feeling out of place here. You seem like you feel the same way. Being with you makes me feel comfortable.” She closed her eyes, bracing for his next words.

His gaze remained the same, the irritation on his face ever present. However, his form seemed to relax just slightly. One could even detect the most miniscule hint of joy in his eyes.

He turned away. “Tch, can’t say the same about you,” He said. His words were harsh but had no real punch to it.

The immortal was going to respond but then—

Suddenly, everything went dark and a shriek could be heard before other screams from the guests followed in panic of what was happening.

Shortly after, the lights came back on and the host came in, telling the guests to remain calm. He spotted the two pro heroes that stood by the wall and rushed to them, explaining the situation. Apparently one of the esteemed guests had been murdered and they had to find the killer. The duo agreed to help him. The ash-blond went to find the other pros at the event while Mari focused on keeping the guests from freaking out and reassuring them that she and Bakugo are here to keep them safe. Upon hearing Suki’s name, the crowd relaxed, knowing what one of the number 1 heroes was capable of.

Suki came back with Eijiro and Hitoshi. They were particularly easy to recognize from their hair. Her chocolate brown eyes lit up at the sight of them. Her body seemed to move on its own, rushing to them and giving them a tight hug.

“Eijiro! Toshi! You’re here!” She exclaimed.

Eijiro grinned and hugged her back. His body has gotten much, much, larger than when they were still students, his build rivaling that of Endeavor’s back in his prime. He even grew a manly beard. He had taken off his mask already. “Mari! Glad to see you here, you look great,” He greeted her.

A small ghost of a smile pulled on the lavender-haired boy’s lips. Now that he was an adult, one could see the resemblance between him and his mentor with their matching 5 o’clock shadows. They weren’t even blood-related, but Todoroki would argue otherwise if he were here. His face was obscured by a cat mask. Typical. “You’re as lively as ever for a dead girl,” He told her.

The immortal pulled away and looked at three of her old friends. “So, what should we do here? I managed to calm down our guests. Has anyone called the police yet? We might need more people to investigate this murder,” She asked.

“Already called them,” Suki spoke up, his arms crossed. “We should get to the crime scene already before some idiot messes with it or some shit.”

They nodded in agreement. The host led them to the guest room. He placed his gloved hand on the doorknob and opened it to reveal a gruesome sight. An overwhelming scent of charred flesh forcefully filled their nostrils. The decaying body was still sizzling, the fat and skin tissue had sloughed off, blood was splattered everywhere.

The host made gagging noises and ran off, probably to puke. Poor thing. Fortunately, the heroes didn’t seem to be fazed by the scene, having been experienced with this sort of thing.

Hitoshi looked up at the woman. “Can’t you talk to ghosts or something?” He asked.

Mari bit her lip and nodded. “Yes, but I can’t see him in this room. I’m probably going to have to search for him,” She answered.

“Alright, Shitty Hair, you watch over the guests. Eyebags, stay here and make sure no one messes with the crime scene,” Suki spoke up, taking the lead. “I’ll go with Crazy Corpse.”

Eijiro nodded and gave a thumbs up before going to station himself with the guests.

Hitoshi also nodded and his fingers removed the cat mask from his face and took out his artificial vocal cords to put it on.

Mari started walking around the massive mansion in search of the ghost. She only has a bit of time before the victim es to the afterlife. Of course, there are the kinds of ghosts that get bound to a place due to unfinished business. However, she couldn’t always rely on that. Her hurried footsteps echoed against the empty halls. Suki had been following closely behind her.

She stopped when her eyes met with a translucent apparition, glowing dimly in the light. It had been a fellow hero, one that she has met a few times before but never really got very close to.

“Who killed you?” The woman didn’t waste time to get to the point.

His expression was one of horror, seeing her and her partner. “That man that you danced with.” His words were hurried. “You can’t trust your friends! They aren’t who you think they are! Leave while you still—”

The hero didn’t even get to finish before his body dissipated to nothingness, ing to the afterlife.

Her blood ran cold and her eyebrows furrowed. What…? She didn’t know what he meant. Can’t trust her friends? But why? He didn’t seem like he was lying but—

“Oi,” A hand was placed onto her shoulder, shaking her out of her thoughts. “What did he say?”

She bit her lip, unsure of what to say. “The man I danced with… He had black hair and turquoise eyes,” Her tone was hushed.

“Tch,” Suki clicked his tongue. “I’m gonna look for him, stay here.” Then, he ran off to search the rest of the mansion.

“Wait—!” The immortal was left to her thoughts. She sighed and decided to go back to the crime scene. She saw Hitoshi leaning on the door frame, the smell of charred flesh entering her nostrils once more. It seemed to only get worse with each moment that ed, the decaying corpse smell intensifying in the room. It was fortunate that the lavender-haired boy’s artificial vocal cords had filtering. He looked up at her.

“Did you find him?” He asked.

She nodded. “Suki went ahead to look for the suspect…” She responded. The man’s words echoed in her head, making her confused once more. What exactly did he know? Why would he say that about her friends?

After a moment of silence, she finally spoke up.

“Toshi…?”

“Hm?” The lavender-haired boy turned to her, his eyebrow raised in question.

“Is there… something you guys are hiding from me?” She asked.

His expression was unreadable. He was going to answer her but was interrupted.

BOOM!

The floor shook and the woman had to hold onto him for stability.

“Guys!” Eijiro’s voice called for them, “Bakugo found the killer but he’s struggling to catch him, we need backup!” He motioned for them to follow him and then ran back in the direction of the noise.

Mari’s eyes widened. She didn’t waste time and immediately followed him. It must be serious if both of them were having a hard time with one person. She’d use her ghost form to get there faster but unfortunately, her gown isn’t special like her costume and would likely fall off if she activated it now. Her heels clicked against the tiles as she ran in the hallways. Her chocolate brown eyes saw him running out the door and into the garden. Entering the garden, she saw that the plants and flowers were blown to ashes, either from Bakugo or the killer.

She followed Eijiro into the building, a cathedral. The woman looked around, scanning the situation. Inside the cathedral had pews and an altar. The stained glass windows looked ethereal with the moonlight shining through them, colored rays of light refracted from the panes. A silhouette stood still in front of the altar.

The immortal approached him, her eyebrows furrowed. Why wasn’t he doing anything? Her chocolate brown eyes looked down to see Suki on the floor with Eijiro kneeling beside him. She gasped and rushed to his side.

“Suki!” She cried out, her hands cradling him close to her chest. His breathing seemed uneven. She looked up at the figure, who hadn’t moved from his position.

But then, his hand moved to his mask and removed it. His other hand took off the wig to reveal his identity.

Her eyes widened to the size of saucers. “S-Shoto…? I don’t understand, why would you do this?!” She exclaimed to him, in need of answers. It felt like the world around her blurred. Everything she knew about him felt like it was all being put into question.

Shoto looked down at the three of them. His heterochromatic eyes glinted in the moonlight. “Simple. He was in the way of the plan,” He answered.

Her eyebrows were knitted together. “What plan…?” She asked, confused. What could be so important that he would have to take someone’s life?

“Isn’t it obvious?” He tilted his head, his eyes narrowing. “This was your fault, you know. You were too stubborn to just listen. While your persistence to stay a hero is irable, it’s too risky for someone like you. You know how many people are out for your quirk. In the wrong hands, it could lead to a devastating future. We’re doing this for your own good.”

“We?” Mari still didn’t understand. But before she could ask more questions—

Click!

She felt something cool around her neck. Her eyes widened and she looked down to see Suki’s piercing eyes glaring at her. She placed her hand to find that a quirk cancelling collar was placed on her. He put it on her while she was distracted.

“Suki, what…” The woman looked at him, horror in her eyes. Her body trembled.

He got up from her lap and crossed his arms. His shadow was cast over her form as she stared up at him.

“Sorry, Mari,” Eijiro spoke up for the first time since they got here. “We can’t lose you, not again.”

The door flew open, thudding against the walls and footsteps rushed in.

“Mari, what’s happening?!” Shinsou asked, looking alarmed. His eyes darted between the four people in the room to assess the situation.

“Toshi!” The immortal called her friend, reaching out for him. She was in desperate need of his help. “Help! Todoroki killed—”

But then, it was as if she lost control of her body, freezing up. Her eyes glazed over and her voice died in her throat. What…?

Hitoshi’s demeanor changed and he stood still in front of her. His expression being one of guilt as he gave a command.

“Now, sleep.”

Everything went black and her body fell limp, caught in Eijiro’s firm grip.
