Waves lapped gently against the pebble shore. The sky was littered with trails of cloud thin enough to see the sunset, but also present enough to capture some of its warm hues. The sailboat anchored out in the water bobbed lazily, the occasional clinking of its ropes echoing across the water.
Taking a deep breath and sipping on the iced tea that had been handed to him on the way out the front door, tired crimson eyes stared out across the calm waters. It was the end of their long drive out here, and finally everyone could relax, fight over who got what rooms, and just enjoy the peace of not having to bend to the will of the Commission.

“Bakugo, can I have the front room?”
The voice of the electric blonde had come from the window of the second floor, and he was likely going to start moving the explosive blonde’s affairs if he didn’t get an answer soon.
“You’ve got the bunk room with Kirishima and that’s final. Take it or you’re on the couch downstairs and I’m nailing the curtains open.” Bakugo would be lying if he said he didn’t relish in the defeated groan that reached his ears.
Adjusting his position where he was seated on the steps leading down to the beach, the explosive hero took a deep breath of the air, listening in to the conversation happening in the bunk room upstairs, where the window was wide open.
“It is his cottage, Kaminari. We’re lucky we were all able to take the week off to get away from our duties to begin with.”
“Yeah, you got a point.”
“You can take the bed by the window if you’re that desperate to hear the ocean at night.”
Bakugo chuckled softly, hearing the electricity practically squeak in delight. While he wouldn't show it deliberately, much less would he say it to their faces, he loved having every one of them around, and he didn't know where he'd be now if not for their .
“Bakugo!” It was Ashido calling for him now, but curiously enough, it was coming from down on the beach. Refocusing on the present moment, he looked down the beach, off to the right, and there she was, returning with Sero and about twenty pounds of lobster between them, just like they’d ordered. “Are you sure we need this much lobster?”
He took a deliberately long sip of his iced tea, making sure to maintain eye with the pink-haired woman. She’d known the answer before even asking the question, so his silence was more than enough to confirm that she was correct.
Getting up to give the pair room to make their way up the steps, Bakugo took a final look around at the scenery and followed them inside. Now that they’d acquired the lobster, it was time to get cooking.
There was only one person to be trusted in the kitchen handling all the major cooking, and that was none other than Bakugo himself. If he absolutely needed help at any point, he’d summon Kirishima, but otherwise everyone else was under chef’s orders to relax and go for a swim. Except Kaminari. He could swim only after everyone else was satisfied. Because the last time he’d entered the water with everyone else, it was a disaster, to say the least.

Once everything was all cooked and everyone was on their way up from the beach, the ash blonde just stood in the secondary doorway of the room, looking out at the calm ripples in the water. This was the only place where he and anyone he decided to bring along could fully escape from their hero lives.
Taking his seat at the head of the table, Bakugo waited for everyone to be seated before he addressed the squad. “Eat your fill. We’ll head out to the porch after for drinks. Once the tide is far enough out, we’ll set up for the bonfire.”
Kaminari’s head whipped up to face their leader. “We’re still having s’mores, right?”
It was Mina who answered, saying that they wouldn’t be having the bonfire without them. The electric blonde sighed in relief, much to the amusement of everyone.
After dinner, and once dishes had been washed, dried, and put away, the group of five vacationing heroes made their way out to the porch. While there was a moment of silence, Bakugo caught their attention, which had them confused for a few moments.
“Never change, ya morons,” he chuckled at them, earning a chorus of laughter and cheers.
They were truly his morons, and he couldn’t ask for anything more.
